Apologies for the sarcasm but I can't help myself. It's probably best to assume I'm being sarcastic unless there's a frowny face.

Descriptions of pictures available but as 99.99% of people who look at my profile can see, I'll wait for requests.

Waste incinerators: the latest bin fire in Australian climate policy
Something has gone terribly wrong with a society and an economy that sees a steady and inexhaustible flow of garbage as a reliable fuel for generating electricity. But here we are.

This is not really surprising. Wasn't Bill Clinton famous for his infidelity even when he was in office?

What'd be interesting to learn is whether Clinton was the most prolific visitor to #Epstein's island or just photographed more often than others.

I suspect the next president of the USA will realise that removing #Trump 's name is as important as affixing his/her own.

There'll be one stone left in a desert & on it will be: 'My name is Trump, King of Kings; Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'

Nothing remains beside it.

Never forget that Trump was just as narcissistic, bigoted, and vindictive in the first term as he is now. The difference is that all of the guardrails that stymied him in his first term have been weakened or destroyed.
When Trump visited Mount Vernon in 2018, he couldn't understand why George Washington didn't name it after himself. “You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you.” Reupping this prescient piece from @politico.com which seems pretty relevant today. www.politico.com/story/2019/0...

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

And…

The doctors are *also* Syrian!

Anas Natfaji from Aleppo.

*Three* heroes.”

Those claiming #Israel is a genocidal racist country should remember it was mainly Europeans who defeated the Ottoman Empire in WWI & colonised & partitioned the land.

The majority was Arab but Israel was founded on part of the British section.

Empires aren't always profitable & need to be managed well to generate any return.

Too many wars at the edges of the empire drain resources & lead to losses while empires based on trade (eg British) succeeded.

What does international law say about infiltrating a country, attacking young people at a music festival, taking hostages then blackmailing the country you invaded to change their laws?

I was quite strongly opposed to #Israel before the 2023 attack but that changed everything.

If new laws & rules are required to deal with antisemitism then they should be worded in such a way that they give the same protection to all people.

Next time it may be Buddhists or Hindi who are targeted.

The prehistory & history of the Levant show that neither #Jewish people nor #Palestinians have a great moral claim to the region.

But, since the partition of the Ottoman empire into Jewish & #Arab regions both have land.

Netanyahu's actions have been abhorrent but they don't justify the murder of innocent #Jewish people living in Australia.

If anybody wants to fight #Israel then go to a middle Eastern dictatorship & find people who agree with you (but don't expect to be allowed back into this country.)

We do everyone in our community - but esp Jewish Australians - a great & now clearly dangerous dis-service by not recognising the real contribution that the actions of the Netanyahu Govt has on these tragic events

My concerns are also with our Muslim community tonight.
