Defense is now questioning Lairmore on cross-examination. They show a video still of the sandwich and wrapper on the ground, post-throw.

"Do you recognize that sandwich?" the attorney asks.

Lairmore won't confirm.

"I did not go back to collect it," he says.

Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."

Cuomo: No.

Ebro: Trump said you're his candidate.

why are her sons of indeterminate age portrayed as protectors, who have a duty to protect their mother against a man who owns a firearm and could have reached for a knife? does she think her children are invulnerable?
one could defend this Thing as not bigotry, but let me ask you this. the piece focuses a lot on the size and musculature of men. how do black men fit into this character's fear of large men? why is she so opposed to her sons' basic needs, like caloric consumption?
there is no purpose to this piece, aside from the author imagining a world where she is justified in her misandry, festering delusions in her brain until she drives herself to paranoia
fourth paragraph from the end. the main character's statement of explicit bigotry, placing her loving husband and good-natured sons on the same level as a stalker with a gun is not subverted. hey what the fuck @newyorker.com

this is one of the most head-scratching things I've read this year. a grounded piece of contemporary fiction called "mother of men", wherein the author imagines herself as a woman who's the victim of a realistic stalker and ends up bigoted against her own children

It’s clear who the aggressors are. Keep remaining nonviolent, and record EVERYTHING. All of these masked ICE thugs will be held accountable.

This is quite a story: the US employed every strongarm tactic available, including personal threats against delegates and their families, to derail an agreement on reducing shipping emissions that was almost finalized. on.ft.com/47lq3dZ
