can people please stop inventing imaginary disabled people and then pretending they've seen them "scamming the system"

if this hypothetical person ever actually existed someone like you would've taken photos and reported them to the dwp

you know it

we know it

so give it a rest

Sigh. Pandemic, nearly year seven, no one understands how anything works.
When most people say "during Covid" they mean "when we did infection control in schools".

"Not controlling the spread of disease at all" results in more illness than "doing something to control the spread of disease".

So of course it's "worse than Covid".

Business and Economics are fairy tales for rich people.

Current "news" stories are nothing but carefully crafted narratives dictated by "business and economic interests".

Yes, even in "utopian" Canada.

We're nothing but PR and carefully crafted narratives.

You can't separate this from the Atlantic article claiming their are too many students with disabilities. It's a moral panic meant to push out young people with disabilities from access to resources and to reify ableist bigotry. It's exactly what they did to trans people.

People are dying. This is not imaginary. An estimated 82,000 people died from Canadian wildfire smoke alone.

Including this lovely little boy who never hurt anybody.
Smoke from Canada’s wildfires killed nine-year-old Carter Vigh – and 82,000 others around the world
Toxic particles spewed by 2023’s wildfires were even responsible for 22,000 early deaths in Europe, researchers say

Which gets us to the real issue; when Canada signals to the world that, after 30 COPs and 30+ years of promises, they are essentially going to abandon all climate measures other than a yet-to-be-made "grand bargain" with the trump-loving far-right province of Alberta..

The UK, for instance, and other smaller oil producing nations, have had steadily declining output.

Hint - Canada is a "planet wrecker" whose output has steadily increased, along with Russia and the USA.

Cherry-picking information and creating "case studies" to support very carefully crafted narratives is a very common practice for the likes of Deloitte.

But quoting non-existent papers? They usually take care of creating them first. Someone's dropping the ball...

#PSA: Lung clinics are dangerous places for airborne viruses if you need to take your 3M Aura mask off for testing.

Got there early enough to witness bare faces, and make the science-based decision to NOT catch anything. I didn't refuse care, safe care was denied to me before I even got there.
"Patient Relations": only a phone number on TW's information board. Left a message there and am sending a letter to submit to your portal, but I also deem it super important to let everyone know:

Attn: Patient relations
I came to 7th floor respirology
For the first appointment of the day
I saw an unmasked receptionist upon arrival
And unmasked staff coming in and out of exam room 428

I heard coughing from rm 428
And that "deep cough" from somewhere to my right.
I GTFO'd saying "this test - not happening today"

I asked for the first appointment of the day to reduce exposure to airborne pathogens. Witnessed 7-8 staff members going around without masks in (cont)

the clinic hallways, coming in and out of rooms while I was in the waiting area.

With this level of lack of care, there was no sense in bothering trying to explain to anyone on that floor, or in the hospital, for that matter, that they are putting patients at risk.

People are *still* dying from Covid they caught at work but corporations don’t care and will do nothing about it bc they don’t have to 👇

It’s up to us to demand clean air, paid sick days, RATs, masks, WFH accommodations… or you’re just giving your corporate overlords consent to maim & murder you 😷
And they will almost certainly not get wrongful death suits because courts have already ruled wrongful death suits due to the pandemic are too great an economic burden for the corporations and the country. But I hope someone gets clever and figures out a way around that.
