What 2024 teaches us is the importance of the real world. Go speak to real people in real life. Go read a book. You can’t trust everything on the internet. Life is not black and white. It’s very much shades of grey.

BBC report at a headline level that Grok will now not make sexually exploitative images any more. An actual reporter comes on and explains that it will do no such thing, and will just make the images invisible in the UK. These are two very, very different things.

U.S. Marshals who captured slaves under the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 were enforcing the law too.

Slavery was eventually abolished*.

(* historical caveats apply)
Continue to think that saying “abolish ICE” without explaining how you’ll enforce the law is a trap, but boosting this
"YouGov has ICE at 39% favorable, 52% unfavorable...But this top line really understates the intensity of public backlash to ICE and its tactics. In February 2025, just 19% of Americans held a strongly unfavorable view of ICE. Today, 40% do."

I used to love Twitter, even if I had to really reign in my shitposting when I got elected. It used to be genuinely useful professionally too. It has long ceased to have any positive net benefit, either individually or societally, and anyone in public life who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

There is, to my mind, no justification for the continued use by the UK Government of X as a platform for official comms. There hasn't been for some time, in fact, but if the latest developments around AI-generated image abuse and CSAM don't change the policy I really don't know what will.

The tragic death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year old mother fatally shot by ICE, shows that ICE can’t be reformed and must be abolished.

I’ll be introducing the Abolish ICE Act as a step toward justice, accountability, and humanity in our immigration policy.

I made a fresh account to report on Grok's horrors and can confirm. followed 1 account, ESPN, and the feed was 90% Libsoftiktok, Elon, Matt Walsh, and sundry right wing slopaganda
Road report:

-I haven't done anything on Xitter since Nov 2024.

-Via someone's account, recently trawled through the main news feed.

It actually is shocking. Between the Grok-generated sexploitation, and white-supremacist cheerleading, that's most of the feed.

No "real" org should be there.

The role of Grok/X in the industrial scale production and distribution of CSAM has - rightly - led to a significant increase in political support for sanctioning the company. Fining won't work, though, so the only option is a complete ban.
If a human was being paid to create this material, we’d rightly throw the book at them. So why should X get a free pass?

Fine them to the hilt and if they won’t comply, shut it down. We wouldn’t tolerate this offline. Why online?

I held onto Twitter longer than I probably should have, but I've had zero regrets since deleting my account. Every new thing I hear about that dumpster fire only gives me more justification.

If you still have an account there, I implore you to delete it. Don't pause it or lock it down. Purge it.
X ceased being a public square years ago, and over the last month, it’s degraded even further.

A platform that enables the creation non-consensual sexualised images of women and children cannot be treated as neutral ground - and governments choosing to stay are endorsing it.

Enough is enough.
Staying on X is an Endorsement - and It's Unforgivable
The UK government cannot claim to protect women and children while continuing to post on a platform that enables their abuse.
