Agreed, and the final (heartbreaking) part of that seems so thunderingly obvious too.
(Maybe it's not a requirement to be seen as good at the roles they perform though, rather than hidden to the people who should know better)

When a collaborator is targeted because her scientific findings that attribute extreme weather to human-caused climate change is being used (effectively) in climate lawsuits against oil companies, you know times are dark indeed.

Interesting - to put it in the context of the rest of the thread, what's their motivation? Would it be worse to know they just stumbled on this level of influence and decided to run with it, or if it was always their aim to have power and no accountability, or some other explanation?

If it's any consolation I failed mine when I got spooked trying to turn right (in the UK) and was so annoyed that it wasn't smooth that I ended up literally speeding to the point where the examiner remarkably gently pointed out I was breaking the law during my test!

I want to call out this "tackling climate change is bad for the working class" argument:

1. Poorer communities tend to be more vulnerable to climate shocks
2. The shift to net zero is expected to create more jobs than it destroys
3. Turning back on clean energy likely won't lower energy bills
