Thought I’d finally introduce myself:
Hi I’m Nova, (she/her), posting about fiber art, fashion, sustainability etc

Oh she got plenty of treats for being such a good model!
For @livrunsfast.bsky.social’s #ShowMeYourKnits headwear prompt: Ada’s embarrassing dog hat! So embarrassing she has refused to wear it since. I knitted this when I had covid and while it kept me distracted it really is the kind of thing I would only make when slightly delirious!

I want to post again. I went on holiday and lost my posting mojo but now it’s back here’s a recent selfie. This is going to be the season of mori/folksy/whimsigoth vibes! The beret, cowl, jumper and mitts are made by me, dress is 90s vintage.

Jean Dessès originally began to study law as a future career but in 1925 he abandoned the legal path and turned to fashion instead. Mid century design was all the richer for his decision, full of chiffon, pleats and epic drapery, #1950s @christiesinc.bsky.social #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

It's still warm enough for me to wear this dress and jacket I recently finished! I was inspired by the Korean jogakbo patchwork technique.

Mostly hand sewn, as I was on a family holiday and needed some relaxing hand sewing. 1000 flat-felled seams may not be relaxing to some, but it is to me 😅

Have you ever noticed that old clothes online sometimes look better than old clothes in your closet?

Why is that? 🧵

So much of the design of this early #1930s dress is about a trick of the eye - the trompe l’oeil - created in the illusion of pleats from the placement of the beadwork that covers the entire garment. Designed by Jean Patou it shimmers in pink and gold #V&A #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

My box of sox, in 2021. It was 58 pairs, but I've since added 18 more. I could go 2+ months wearing a unique pair each day.😀But I have favorites. I don't have a problem, I just need a bigger box. 📦👍

Not shown, nearly as many that I've knit for others.

This week is #creepycute for #crochetaway, & I have already shared many of my monsters, but not these!

Pattern is Ponysaur by Megan Lapp/Crafty Intentions. These are 2 of the 3 included leg options, and they are wired through the body to be poseable.

Spotted this beautiful winder at neighbor's yard sale and had to bring it home. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but it has an adorable "clicker" design. It's a typical, 2-yard circumference, 80-yard measure.

A 3,500 year-old Egyptian glass cosmetic jar with two little duck heads!

Glass was a relatively new material at that time, so this jar would have been a precious possession.

Finished the inkle band I've been working on!

This is wool yarn, Koigu KPPM (colorway P375), it compressed quite a bit with lovely little sparks of color! With the variegated yarn doing all of the work for the pattern, this one was relaxing after the complicated pickup band of the last one I made!
