The 2024 election victory wasn’t just won by #Trump; it was crafted by #Musk, other billionaires & conspiracy culture.

Below I examine how democracy was undone by cold calculation and the players who orchestrated the improbable to make it inevitable.

Errrr were BA fine with sponsoring him before this though? When he's interviewed Saville, WBC, a load of right wrong'uns? No? Just because of this one?

So BA are quite happy with Jimmy Saville, Max Clifford, leaders of the American Neo-Nazi movement, the Westboro Baptist church and illegal Israeli settlers, but they draw the line at Bob Vylan. Strange indeed.

The inevitable 5% of Reform voters who agree that they are racist
Reform aren't going to be able to win an FPTP election if 36% for "generally not racist" & 46% for "generally racist", however fair or unfair perceptions of racist/ not racist are

They did well to get 36% in Caerphilly but this is a big part of why they mobilise opponents (Plaid 47% Reform 36%)

Less shocked by the ignorance of Irish political history than by the clear implication they never read @seamas.bsky.social's seminal "accidentally taking ket in front of the president" thread.
And people say the British press doesn't know anything about Ireland. They got this scoop, didn't they.

went to Caerphilly on byelection day. Where *was* candidate Llŷr Powell, ex-colleague of Russian puppet Nathan Gill? And what did Plaid Cymru's Lindsay Whittle say?

This is a good example of the "very clear" rule of political interviews.

When a politician says "I've been very clear" it always means they're wildly obfuscating. Never fails.

Speaking of grandsons of awful men, such as Timothy Mellon, last night I learned that Louis Mosley is the head of Peter Thiel’s Palantir in the UK.

Mosley’s grandpa was the founder of the British Union of Fascists who married his wife Diana Mitford at Joseph Goebbels’ house. Hitler was a guest.

What is the point of our national broadcaster if it can't get the official Opposition to answer questions like this?
A real failure that a 6 minute BBC interview with the Shadow Home Secretary has simply failed to clarify
- whether the Bill in the Commons stands, or has been dropped?
- whether threat of removal to those currently with ILR stands, or dropping retrospective deportations of 430,000 people

Kind of remarkable that for all UK broadcast media's obsession with American politics it has produced relatively little on the ground coverage of the spiralling situation in Chicago
A friend of mine in Chicago just shared a video on IG of an ICE operation near her house. The operation happened just minutes before the neighborhood Halloween parade. ICE used tear gas and multiple parents had to wash their kids' (including toddlers) eyes out.

Imagine how much more money companies could make if they stopped ruthlessly framing their adverts to shift as much product as possible to as many people as possible and just pandered to weirdo racists instead!
But at least they didn’t retweet an article suggesting American police forces were trained by Israelis.

Now that would apparently be the real bigotry, and a resigning offence.

It's insane how different standards are expected from different politicians.

I used to say the Tories and Reform deliberately dressed up sincere fears as legitimate concerns.

Now they’ve taken to using the same phrase to legitimise blatant bigotry.
Funny comments under the FT piece, but worth noting:

“Hard-left” is now used to mean “social democratic”, while “hard-right” and "populist" are the polite terms for “far-right”.

The linguistic drift tells its own story.

That's racism. Plain and simple.

No other word for it.

It's shocking beyond belief that this sort of thing is somehow acceptable.

The current Labour strategists think they're very, very smart.

They congratulated themselves on the success of their "Hero Voter" electoral strategy without ever acknowledging the reality.

Now they're stubbornly continuing to govern using the same strategy.
