An old bit of adventuring wisdom: Never split the party. But in a bid to save lives, one party decides to roll the dice and part ways, with a promise to meet again in one week. All it takes is one betrayal, though. They’re left with a broken promise and the witch Norui is lost, her disappearance haunting her friends. Enter Allen West, an Investigator for the Bureau of Magic Regulations, who hunts down illegal magickers. A lead on a series of missing adventurers traps him and his companions in the very ruins where Norui has been imprisoned. Freeing themselves means challenging the enigmatic Whistler, a powerful illusionist whose twisted games blur the lines between reality and nightmare. In his domain, every step could be their last, and they have only a single night to defeat him. But as West and Norui join forces, their greatest threat may not be the dark forces that threaten their lives, but their fellow adventurers, whose loyalties are as uncertain as the shifting illusions surrounding them. As the night draws on, they must decide if they can trust each other- or if their journey will end in ruin. Survival demands more than just courage: it requires a leap of faith. I’ve been debating putting The Glass Library Chronicles on something like Wattpad, but every time I stare at the publishing stuff I just freeze and end up closing the tab. My anxiety just like “Nope!!”

I also want to rewrite some earlier chapters…

“Young gods,” said a gray-haired woman covered in tattoos and adorned by a necklace of shimmering dragon scales. She was joined by two equally tattooed and grandly dressed men. “My husbands and I bring you one of the North’s most delectable dishes: a stew of sweet ibex meat, prepared by the renowned cooks of the Culinary Guild of Oalaatis.” After they’d presented their dish and returned to their seats, Mireia leaned over and whispered to Kena, “Who was that?” “The Northern Queen Ha’uani. We met her last night. Don’t you remember?” “I wasn’t really paying attention.” Kena sighed. “Of course you weren’t.”

And with this wistful passage into the blackest of nights, the tale of ‘The Sole Of Discretion’ comes to it’s end.

(Still no idea what I’m going to write next 😬).
Far out, in the vast reaches of space, so vast that human minds simply can’t imagine it, no, you really can’t, some things moved. Honestly, stop thinking you can, because you can’t. ‘Vast’ doesn’t even cover it. No-one, not even the greatest cosmologists of any time period can, though they’ll pretend they can and argue about it til the Thelthnelnian Sun Cows come home, they’d be wrong. Big? Empty? You have literally no concept of the things. But, anyway, out there, somewhere, things moved. Several things. They frolicked. In space. And if you can’t imagine the sheer size of space (seriously, you can’t. Stop. You’re just embarrassing yourself), then you’ll never be able to imagine things frolicking there, but these things did. Two very large somethings, surrounded by a good dozen or so little somethings. If you caught them in the lens of a hypothetically perfect telescope, you might even think they were playing, like children running around their parents on a beach. The larger things simply carried on through the darkness, travelling on to places never seen, never explored, never even considered to exist. Like explorers. Big, strange-looking explorers, with their kids in tow. One looking like a lemon sole, the other like a rather shapely bottom and a pair of legs crossed at the ankles. And they seem happy. Happy … and free.
