We did it! Hosted another Flock camera community discussion in my rural WA town, and the sheriff came to confirm they won’t be renewing the contract or considering them again.
This is why I believe so strongly in neighbor-run town halls, especially trying it before ex: a lawsuit or ballot measure.

Last night #Olympia, WA also decided to suspend their network of #Flock cameras! 🏆

Notably they understood that physically covering/removing the devices matters a great deal when it comes to public trust! ✅

Ethan Hawk’s performance in Blue Moon (2025) is utterly astonishing. i loved this movie – modern cinematic chamber pieces are such a rarity these days and I’m so grateful that Richard Linklater is so dedicated to filmmaking and willing to make intimate portraits like this. Fantastic picture.

Critics on both sides of the aisle oppose Flock not only because cameras threaten to violate the privacy of anyone who drives past them, but also because the cameras are remarkably error-prone.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.

Pritzer gets the mechanics of authoritarianism – systemic intimidation, seizing control of elections, etc. – in a way others in national democratic leadership don't or won't say out loud.
Pritzker: "One of the reasons Trump wants to send troops into cities is bc he wants to be able to take control of the 2026 elections...if they've got troops in cities, & it becomes a kind of norm for people, then it won't be abnormal for them when they're going to vote having troops at ballot boxes"
