Dropping a ballot against Trump while some loser in a skull face diaper watches helplessly is the most American thing I can imagine.
I've done absentee ballot into a drop box since covid but goddamn if I'm not tempted to go in person day of just in case there's an *opportunity*

I don’t care what anyone says about Vance being more dangerous than Trump: he isn’t. Trump gets away with crazy and horrific comments because he says them with the earnestness of blunt force trauma. Vance is too eager to prove that he knows he’s smarter than you. He could not survive as president.
Reporter: Do you plan to apologize to the family of Alex Pretti?

Vance: For what?

This was a remarkably crazy response by Mike Johnson's standards. He's going full "stop the steal" and clearly would line up behind any effort Trump makes to rig the midterms and 2028 elections
Mike Johnson on Trump calling for Rs to "nationalize" elections: "We had 3 Republicans who were ahead on election day in last cycle & every time a new tranche of ballots came in they just magically whittled away until their leads were lost. It looks on its face to be fraudulent. Can I prove it? No"

Clark's debut novel expands his world enjoyably but stumbles with a flawless protagonist, unclear societal norms, and a recycled plot. Supporting characters are better than the primaries in this capable entry that undershoots its potential. Full review: nwcasebolt.substack.com/p/a-master-o...

oh they are going to rip each other to shreds as it becomes clear that the country has decisively turned against them
Genuinely interesting. Kristi Noem is snitching that Stephen Miller is the one who made up the bullshit about Alex Pretti.

It would be genuinely useful if Congress can get her to admit that he has been dictating ALL OF THIS just like he dictated the murderboats.

The only thing I would say differently is that the Trump clown show didn’t hold it together so much as our elites kept backing up. All our universities and media and politicians had to do was stand their ground, but they preferred that everyday Americans die in the streets instead. Never forget.
the one thing i told normies who were worried about all these clowns that set then at ease was that these people are all incompetent jerks who hate one another, and that more than anything would be their downfall.

surprised they held it together this long tbh

ALL MN PROTESTERS

Absolutely nothing could be worse for our cause than violence and rioting. It is what ICE and Trump obviously want. Do not burn down our own city to protest invaders; they do not care; they will enjoy it. Do not do it. Do not let your fellow protesters do it.

but they’ll just be one of the skulls

not even one of the good skulls, just a bulk skull from somewhere in the middle

This is the key point in this fine summary thread. Doomers have to make a series of wild assumptions that contradict 100% of our experience to date. It’s the triumph of anxiety over reality. Don’t fall for the fear porn.

Since we now know that awards are transferable at will, let’s give Rush Limbaugh’s medal to Jerome Powell and call it good.
This is a very big deal. And Powell is a mensch. If democracy survives, he should get a presidential medal of freedom.
BREAKING: Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will attend the Supreme Court's hearing on Trump's attempted firing of Fed governor Lisa Cook, an unusual show of support by the central bank chair.

Bluesky posters will be like you “you think massive universal legal resistance with total support from the population works? that pales in comparison to my strategy, winning a shootout with an ICE army” and then not win a shootout with an ICE army
Oh my god theyre killing rosa luxemburg again lmao, your failure to engage in armed resistance is speedrunning you towards death camps
There’s no real debate. I have witnessed a very small number of ICE activists advocating for carrying firearms or even trying to agitate by physically striking ICE vehicles, etc. Let’s be clear: the incredibly vast majority of people resisting ICE correctly believe these people are fools.

This a good antidote to the despair that sneaks in through a cascade of cruel, insane headlines. The Trumpists are already losing, and there is nothing they can plausibly do to stop it.
the question to ask about this is, okay, he wants to cancel the midterms. how does he get the VA state board of elections to cancel the midterms? how does he get the georgia board of elections to do it? how does he convince republican house members to quit their jobs and give up their paychecks?
Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

Worthwhile thread for cold, hard legal reasoning.
My initial take on the criminal law governing the ICE shooting in MN:
609.066 of the MN Code controls a self-defense claim for a "peace officer" under state law. I'm not going to consider federal law given the capture of the DOJ by the Trump administration. 1/
