tolkien was a person, like any other. and assigning him to one "side" of the political spectrum or the other will never get to the heart of why fascists are drawn to his work.

it's not co-opting when the framework is there. put your attachment to middle-earth aside and fight fascism in all forms.
First of all: southern Italian red wine IS *the* red wine
the character is a ray of sunshine - are they really??
good news: we’ve learned a new word hurrraaaay
it's me vs the terrifying ordeal of "this word doesn't actually mean what I thought it did" uh
yeah not my monkeys but just saying this circus is poorly managed and I'd rather stay away. Thank you
It’s also very fucking annoying given that I literally drag myself out of bed anyway. Yeah I’m slow but it’s still better than doing nothing at all, and for me that’s *real* progress. It’s about those little unnoticeable steps. But still. I mean. Fuck off? We're good.

i don’t believe in lore dick measuring contests or excluding people who are getting into tolkien and learning but you do run into some amount of “i haven’t read the book but you have to take what i think about it seriously otherwise you’re mean” around adaptation fan spaces which is like. well, no!
I know it must be hard for some people to understand but I never chose to feel this overbearing anxiety that keeps me staring at the ceiling and threatens to choke me. No, I didn’t "choose" to do nothing. Yes, I’m doing everything I can to fight back. this is my best sorry not sorry
oh my I *need* more of this
This is absolutely freakin’ lovely, dear!!! Finrod‘s hair is particularly stunning (he deserves pretty hair)

My (technically on time) submission for CuruFinrod Week! 😅
#curufin #finrod #curufinrod
Going to send it to my supervisor anyway because…imperfection is good actually…you can learn from your mistakes…growth requires failure…then you can do better… *says through clenched teeth*
One third of chapter two (out of three) of my thesis is done and it sucks. I’m staring at the document in horror and disgust and it’s staring back at me in utter disappointment.

anyway good morning everyone

no sufferance is unattainable and yet. again lose idealism for good and lose the plot I guess.

This to say 75% of law scholars I’ve engaged with have told me they don’t believe history has ended and yet they act as though it has. Very vague but
because yeah we naturally work with sacrifices - two or more principles in contrast, and in the best-case scenario both are diminished in a context where the dominance of one value, no matter how benign, means the annihilation of the other
