Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.

normally i say everyone mourns in their own way but Erika Kirk isn’t allowed back in the country of Romania & i think it’s really weird many journalists didn’t talk about this
look up why Erikkka Kirk isn’t allowed in Romania.

in 2008 Erika Kirk, then known as Erika Frantzve, was involved with an org in Romania called “Children’s Relief International” that was allegedly trafficking children.

Correct: there is absolutely no way to perform "age assurance" without deanonymizing every visitor to the website either through biometrics or ID collection. Also, these bills do absolutely nothing to "rein in Big Tech". Big Tech *loves* them.

The “Where are the protests?” lament after Trump’s inauguration was always based on a (willful) misperception – a myth propagated by a punditry vying for relevance, hellbent on presenting grandiose reckonings and sweeping narratives rather than careful empirical assessments.
Overall, we have tallied 4x more protests through Jan 31, 2026 than we had through Jan 31, 2018

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

in more fun Olympic news, downhill gold medalist Breezy Johnson got engaged at the finish line of the super-G

(and yes, she "may have told him that I just always kind of had the dream of getting engaged at the Olympics" so this is the proposal she wanted)
Breezy Johnson gets engaged at Winter Olympics after boyfriend proposes at finish line
Johnson, 30, was proposed to after her run in Thursday's super-G final ended in a crash.

Dude I met him like 10 years ago at a convention. I was in a cosplay of Lord Dominator from Wander Over Yonder that I'd made myself, and he immediately asked all about it- the construction, how I did it, and cheerfully called me innovative- biggest compliment of my life
In addition to lending us his talents on-screen, Trace Beaulieu will be art director for MST3K: The RiffTrax Experiments!

Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together.

I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.

Great historical perspective. A key piece of resistance is capturing images.

"They know that this project – predicated on lies about lawlessness and violence in these targeted communities – cannot survive the simple power of a photograph or, increasingly, a video."

too many kids today have never destroyed the family PC with sketchy downloads

you must learn to fear Computer before you can properly wield Computer
folks today don't know the abject fear of inadvertently downloading, for the first (and only lol) time, a .exe file from kazaa or limewire and it shows

def one of those "it only takes one time to learn" but oooo boy at what cost for that single instance

yep, they're still at it in LA and Portland too

the media is gonna be like "time for a new narrative" and it's so important to keep talking about how none of the cities they invaded have become more safe since the spotlight shifted away from them
ICE “left” Chicago in November, but they’ve disappeared three people from my community in two days this week.

Don’t believe the hype about them, leaving Minnesota, either.

It’s one of those online games of telephone where everything gets flattened and turned into a caricature of itself. “Some Nazis admired some aspects of Jim Crow” gets turned into “actually European antisemitism is due to the US”
I have no idea where “the nazis learned everything they knew about bigotry from Americans” came from but it is a particularly delusional form of American exceptionalism
