Say there's a 10-minute period with an outfielder in goal and that results in 2 low-xG goals, or a very high-xG chance because the gk dropped a cross to the feet of a forward, that's noise.

Here's an Opta article on their model from 2023. Also partly answers the baseline question.

xG is much more accurate in reviewing and predicting long-term performance than a single match or chance, because the smaller the sample size, the more noise there is.

Most of the “expected” data content you see is still misleading, even in GW7.

It ignores context like fixture difficulty, game state, red cards, penalties, finishing, etc.

This model view adds that context back in, giving you a clearer picture of change in performance levels.

I feel like this may have started happening after I modelled my (now only) draft up to around GW17. Think there could be anything to it, like the draft got too "heavy" (phone is old, maybe that's part of it)? Is deleting the draft the answer? 🥲

Hi, Peter! My app's kept crashing for about a week now. Sometimes almost immediately after I start it, sometimes after playing around for a bit. I've tried deleting and reinstalling it and all that. Any idea of the potential cause, any ideas on how to fix?

All I can say is from the random likes on random replies to random posts by accts that have no apparent connection to the topic at hand but have many an emoji in the name/bio, there are bots, yes. Whether there's a problem I can't say.

Nice to see Walta being noticed. That said, he'll be a key player to the Finnish NT for years to come, and I really want him to stay in Europe - ceiling is much higher than MLS, and the path to the top 5 leagues is a lot clearer up the tiers in Europe.

If I were an MLS team in the market for an 8, I think Leo Walta at IK Sirius might be on the top of my list. He's not really a true 10, though, and he might be a little too expensive to pry out of Sweden without a DP deal.
