The faster that people in “professions” can internalize that they’re workers and move accordingly, the better we’ll all be
My in-laws are both psychiatrists in their late 70s. Their minds are blown that some doctors have started to unionize in Boston. They talked about how bad this is "for the profession."

As I say here, this is not about saving the planet. The planet will be orbiting the sun long after we’re gone.

The question is, will there be a healthy, thriving human society on that planet? The answer to that question is very much up for grabs at this point.

Other primates can do this just fine, but humans need ChatGPT. Right.

Biology is so weird sometimes. As far as insects are concerned, phytoecdysteroids (which spinach is rather rich in, BTW), are toxins that kill them by messing up their molting cycle. In mammals... they're physical performance enhancers. 🧪

we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

The Supreme Court, Presidency, Senate and two party system are all quite anti-democratic institutions as presently constructed.

Our institutions are not only incapable of preventing tyranny—they’re currently enabling it.

When democracy returns, we need to reform our political system.

It's really cool that Penn, in his 60s, was able to reflect & change.

It bums me out that his show "Bullshit" has become, along with South Park, the north star for a brand of specific nihilist libertarian millennial white men, a generation raised on "believing in anything is cringe and a scam"
Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.
