I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

AI has gone from achieving AGI within five years to being a passive aggressive conversational topic
I find the smugness and self-satisfied condescension of certain kinds of AI haters far more objectionable than any of their opinions as such

Calling authors petit bourgeoisie is indeed insane. We are artisans and we deserve to profit from our labor.

That said, digital piracy has never been shown to represent actual lost sales, and may in fact DRIVE sales. I think authors should cool out about it.
We’re not small business owners, ffs - we’re independent contractors, and we are routinely robbed by the world’s dumbest dingbats.

Once upon a time the buttcheek was heralded as the perfect tattoo placement for its discretion, cushioning, and surface area. Revealing a butt tattoo used to be shorthand for admitting to a deep well of perversion for its thoughtful concealment. We have to bring this back.
What we've really lost in the modern rush to get full sleeves is the art of the butt tattoo

In self-interest but also general interest, folks: Black Friday is coming up, and small publishers/independent creators will always be a better choice than megacorps.

When the sales drop, please remember that!

If you're planning on shopping during black Friday or cyber Monday, why not consider supporting artists, writers, creators? Buy a book, purchase an indie video game, commission an art piece, gift someone a Patreon. Your support means everything.

Just wanna warn people that this project requires a pretty hefty fee, not for entry but to count as 'available'. Blacklist requires making projects 'available' for evaluations, which is a standard practice in script submissions but not for manuscripts.

It's important to remember historical differences when discussing sexuality, for example bikers didn't exist before the 1930s so those types of people usually fantasized about being kept as pets by nobility or whipped by soldiers
