The BBC is not just any other institution. It's a core part of this country's identity. It's ours to criticise, ours to get cross with, ours to love and ours to the end.

By attacking it Trump may actually be doing us all a favour as we are obliged to remember that.

After slashing funding for home insulation by around 25% at last month’s Budget, it is nothing short of shameful that the govt has now chosen to delay the Warm Homes Plan once again.

Every week this plan is put back leaves more people languishing in cold, damp homes.

Intro not too promising:

"This action concerns a false, defamatory, deceptive, disparaging, inflammatory, and malicious depiction of President Trump"

As a general rule, the more bombastic the language the weaker the case.

A strong case does not need such language, a poor case is not saved by it.

“No less an authority than the United Kingdom’s former Prime Minister, Liz Truss”

That’s a real sentence that someone wrote, which made it into Trump’s legal filing.

I’m finding it increasingly hard to report anything delivered by “official sources” in the US. Could be true, could be a coverup, could be completely made up for nefarious ends.

It’s a country now where no one really has any idea what’s actually going on.

Monday’s got off to a great start with news that Tommy Robinson is suing Nigel Farage 🤣😂👌🏼

This is definitely a case of “may it be brutal, painful, drawn out, eye wateringly expensive and neither man win” 🍿🍿🍺😄

Miller says immigrants erode social trust and solidarity. But immigration forges new forms of community/solidarity. It's happening right now across the country.

That Miller has to lie endlessly about the social impact of immigrants shows his view is a marginal one.

A 43-year-old father of two, Ahmed al Ahmed, snuck up & tackled a gunman to disarm him. Ahmed was shot twice.

Wanted to make a longer post about the mass shooting at Brown and found this post about Sandy Hook from 2012 and how sad is it that I can literally copy paste the exact same post because gun violence has only gotten worse without federal legislation to stop the ~40K annual preventable gun deaths.😓

In the 1950s the man in charge of Oxfordshire's roads didn't like the UK's road signs, so he invented his own. The Ministry hated them - first because they weren't allowed, and second because they were better than the real thing. www.roads.org.uk/articles/oxf...
Oxfordshire Signs
This is the story of one man at Oxfordshire County Council who pre-empted the development of modern road signs - much to the annoyance of the men from the Ministry.
