Personally, I highly suggest still playing Yakuza 7 with Ichiban. Genuinely feel its the best of the series and works as its own story still. Hell if anything I'd take 6 off the list. That story introduced Daidoji shit and was just complete ass. Only nice bit was Kiryu being a dad basically.
Newly revised Yakuza recommendation order: Just play 0, Kiwami 1-2, remastered 3-5 if you can (if not, watch cutscene highlights), 6. And stop. Ichiban is a hoot, Judgement is cool, but you'll be fine with SEVEN games of Kiryu's story.
