One annoying Gamer Complaint I see is people complaining Super Mario Odyssey "could have been" great after the art book was released. It's already great, and if they included every idea they'd had into the game they would only now be 50% through development

Today's Load-bearing Tomato addresses the age old question:

"why don't the devs just [SOCIAL MEDIA OPINION]"

It turns out, "a lot of reasons", but if you never have to test your ideas, you never have to discover why they're not any good.

Dr. Oz emailed an invite to a Valentine's Day party in 2016 to Jeffrey Epstein.

Oz appears several more times in the Epstein files, including an email sent from an account under his name to Epstein on Jan. 1, 2016, that has the subject line "Dr oz." The body of the message is completely redacted.
Senior US health official Oz invited Epstein to Valentine's Day party, documents show
Mehmet Oz sent the invite almost a decade after Epstein's first sex crime charges became public.

This is something the Nazis used to do to Jewish children in the camps. It happened to a man I knew when he was a child in Auschwitz. The camp guards thought it was funny as hell.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

Using this thread for some moments in the minutes after. All shot on my z8, edited on phone for now. 🦭 🦑

people are saying that he's following an actual California law, which is true, but Newsom being unwilling to carry his "parody" of Trump to anything radical like ignoring a law no one will punish him for disobeying is, in this instance, weakness, in my opinion

what do you even say at this point. The entire administration is made out of sins

this is stupid. We can just put them in jail
Democrats should promise, today, that Melania Trump, Elon Musk and Peter Thiel will be stripped of citizenship and deported if the administration advances this effort
cool, cool. so we are sort of like citizens, but not really?

I really don't like the fact that we've retconned the history of the Republican Party pre-2016 as if it weren't a fetid swamp of ghouls
One of the weirdest things to explain to future generations is that Republicans went from "some evil and but mostly people you disagreed with" to "cartoon assholes who reveled in being evil because they were some variation of insecure loser."
I derive too much smug self-satisfaction from the fact that guys like Fuentes are pure evil.

For decades the tech industry has insulated itself from criticism by leveraging the rhetoric of progressivism & benignity towards the disenfranchised & disabled, w promises of “access” & “democratization” that their products afford. We can’t stop them using this lang but we can stop falling for it.
In an internal memo in May, Meta laid out its plans to release facial recognition in its smart glasses, to the blind first, & then to the general public.

“Civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”
