Hi if you think the fans of your basketball league can’t remember the dunks and shots, your basketball league might be broken
Really interesting treatise from @mcuban.bsky.social, making the case FOR tanking, and doing so openly. Unfortunately, he only posted it to the other site (maybe because of character limits here?).

I grew up in SJ. He seems like 100 guys I knew who mind their business, do their job, and have had enough.

“As he dashed out, Zobel also grabbed one thing — the American flag he flies in front of his house most of the time (except during football season when an Eagles flag replaces it).”

"The state" is just the agreed enforcement of rules for any society of persons that allow them to co-exist without immediately resorting to violence; as you say, it's not some magical Platonic concept grabbed from the aether, it's just the natural consequence of people living amongst other people.

By definition, there can be no property rights without the state
Right, the idea of prepolitical property rights has a lot of sway on people

(I, personally, have come to reject it entirely: the only thing that can make property ownership morally legitimate is the sanction of democratic politics)

The Death Star board room scene is low key the funniest scene in cinematic history. It’s a work meeting with an evil samurai wizard everyone else finds mildly annoying and when his manager tells him to stop killing a coworker with his magicka, he has to listen.

the reason substack has the best free product is the VC money. so ask yourself why the VCs are funding this.
yes substack has the best free product. but it also monetizes nazis, which is a dealbreaker for me.

brb going to plaster "COSTS DON'T DISAPPEAR, THEY'RE MERELY REALLOCATED" onto every wall within a five mile radius of me
i've said before that there's a very strange class of post that fundamentally boils down to "budgets/resource constraints aren't real"
Look, I post a lot about video games, but if you sound like this you should really take a beat and assess whether you're burning your best energy on the right thing.
