This story reads entirely like the CCP elite capture regime has successfully penetrated the very top of the US government. Trump has 100% caved on his entire premise. This is an unprecedented can of whoopass unleashed by Beijing. Laugh at Trump if it makes you feel good, but this is very bad news.

Affordable health care should not be a partisan issue.

My new op-ed in the @chicago.suntimes.com today outlines how Republicans in Congress have created a health care catastrophe. You and your family deserve better.
Republicans gutted health care, and Illinoisans are about to pay for it
If you get coverage under an Affordable Care Act plan in Illinois, get ready for sticker shock.

SNAP exists because politicians take campaign contributions from large corporations in exchange for letting those corporations pay a poverty wage so low that it must be subsidized with taxpayer money, paid by middle class workers barely getting by—all so 700 billionaires can have a few extra billion

Corporate profits have hit record highs.

CEOs are paid 280x as much as a typical worker.

We're subsidizing corporations that pay lousy wages by funding food stamps with our taxpayer dollars.

Yet too many focus their ire on the working poor who need help instead of targeting corporate greed.

In any case, it is important to oppose any United Front narrative that Taiwan's position becomes untenable even if Trump undermines his own mandate under the Taiwan Relations Act.

There is no fait accompli in the Taiwan Strait. Anyone who suggests otherwise is carrying water for Beijing.
"Even if Trump is tempted to go along with that kind of notion, as part of a “deal” with Xi, wiser heads in Washington would probably talk him out of it — just as he was persuaded not to completely abandon Ukraine."

The disappearance of America’s leadership class at a time like this means that the rest of us have to be leaders. We can no longer wait to be led by those with the power and authority to lead. You must lead, I must lead, all of us must lead. We are the leaders we’ve been waiting for.

Opinion: The argument that Taiwan deserves to be defended because it's a democracy is not one that is likely to appeal to Donald Trump. But preventing the island from falling under the sway of China is still a critical US interest, writes FT columnist Gideon Rachman. on.ft.com/3Jw256A

Why did American policing get so big, so fast? The answer, mainly, is slavery. This is one of those key facts about US history that you won't find in high school history books, and that MAGA rewrites of history are keen to suppress. Jill Lepore's piece from 2020.

The US has a long record of fomenting regime change in Latin America. It has seldom worked out well, even when successful, & it has led to deep-rooted resentment of “The Colossus of the North.” Yet, for some reason, Trump seems eager to reprise this ignominious history in Venezuela. wapo.st/3X1jhE0
