this thing hides posts it judges as ‘rude’, by some US standard. Thereby silencing most of the conversations in Ireland and Scotland, at least.
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

If I weren't already boycotting Target, this would make me start.

I love Lush. Their shower gel has been my personal treat since high school. And the employees in my two local shops know to leave me alone, so I don't flee empty-handed.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Been a while since I did a charity stream on Twitch, but I'm feeling the urge again. Tomorrow (Sunday) 11 am to 2 pm Eastern I'll be playing "The Long Dark" -- an old game but a new fave, to benefit NY Common Pantry. Join me for giveaways and (probably) horrible death! tilt.fyi/YVoFdn7Efo

People willing to throw trans liberties away have already handed the right a win in saying there's a gray area to personhood and autonomy.

Trans people are among my beloveds. I want them to live with peace, but if you can't muster decency for them, remember the gray scale to personhood problem.

Maybe nobody in the great big world cares about this.
But the public libraries in tiny Jefferson County in Northern Appalachia were in danger of losing their tax funding thanks to right-wing book banners. And we won. The library's funding is safe!!!!!

They hanged the people who got us the 8-hour workday.
If people actually understood how willing our government is to go to war with its own people simply for demanding equal rights, I think a lot more of us would be ready for war.

This is the same thing I say to anyone on the left willing to leave trans people behind: once you make some people's rights negotiable, every other non-cishet, non-white, non-able bodied demographic is fair game, because YOU SAID HUMANITY HAD A GRAY SCALE.

Liberty means for all.

Artists of all walks:

Once you open "porn" up for removal, or acceptable removal, based upon a moving scale of gray morality, everyone's work is fair game. Everyone's. Because just being queer? Is considered by many perverse. Even if everyone has their clothes on, perverse.

Protect. Porn.

crying about whales in the club
Australia's humpback whales are doing so well that their population is expected to reach carrying capacity and plateau in the near future--they have not just reached but exceeded pre-whaling numbers. For this to happen with such a long-lived, slow-reproducing species is near miraculous. #goodnews
These whales were hunted to 150 individuals. Now there are 50,000 of them
Once hunted almost to extinction, the population of humpback whales currently migrating down Australia's east coast has bounced back and is now greater than before whaling.

Cryptids are usually one specific creature from a specific location (think The Flatwoods Monster or The Loveland Frogman or The Enfield Horror) while fearsome critters are generally a whole species, like axehandle hounds or hidebehinds or teakettlers.
