Preach, Gustave le Bon (b. 1841): "In consequence of the purely destructive nature of their power, crowds act like microbes which hasten the dissolution of enfeebled or dead bodies. When the structure of a civilisation is rotten, it is always the masses that bring its downfall.."

Is there a word for someone who just wants to be... kinda like a housewife

but... instead of staying home to take care of the kids, they feel in their bones that they were put here to stay home (and stretch resources) to try to take care of the world? Can that pls be a role?

Wow. I'm only on episode 2, but Pluribus is so wild. It's like... cooperation porn.

It's strange to say, but honestly, it kinda makes me... hopeful? like "yeah, we could just do things, couldn't we?". Is that how it EVER felt to be in society together? #collectiveintelligence

Doing some reading this morning and thinking about: #polarization, small-world networks, strange bridges, echo chambers where information has too much coherence, recovery from ecological disturbance events, trolling/irony as anti-fragile defence responses to network stress...

Reading a paper on anonymity & the curse of dimensionality. Also thinking about pol.is -like perspective maps, & a game mechanic I've been calling "adversarial empathy"..

I wonder if deep empathy (resolving groups into their diversity) is inherently deanonymizing..

Listening to Su Lynn Myat & @biancawylie.com talk about tech #governance. But asking what is it to regulate AI got me reflecting.

Maybe regulating AI is in essence regulating the essence of language and intelligence most generally: surprise. Is it possible or desirable to try to regulate surprise?

When #complexity or #plurality live within individual bodies, singular experiences... that's usually something I want to trust and walk toward, and to put my attention more closely on. That's where the toughest labour is happening <3 forward.com/opinion/7826... h/t Libby Lenkinski

Or... is it still in anarchic punk rock spirit to yell:

When you're on the trail of the right story for the right moment, it becomes easier to tell. And crucially, not just easier to tell by you, but by everyone. Eventually it tells itself.

And at some point, it's no longer a story, but the very culture in which other stories travel.

This morning, I was hit in the face by a baton.

I’m going to have a pretty gnarly bruise but we need to remember why this is happening: Trump and ICE are rounding up our neighbors, treating them as subhuman, and shipping them off to labor camps in foreign countries. It has to end.

You know it’s bad when the Dept of Labor says immigration raids are “threatening the stability of domestic food production and prices for US consumers.”

A Harvard economist warned two weeks ago that without data centers, the American economy basically had zero growth.

We're witnessing the greatest transfer of wealth from the masses to the elites in modern American history, and it is an intentional policy of the federal government.

Annie has sued her mum.

Her mum and Sam Altman blocked her inheritance for 6 years. Annie was ill, and forced to go on foodstamps.

Her dad left his will to her. He died from overwork and a serious heart condition. For years, Annie had begged Sam to pay for their dad to retire…

However, on our website, in “Demands” you can take this poll: pol.is/2hzna7ntca
We encourage people to take this poll so we know what people are willing to strike for. If you don’t see your cause, then add it, so others can vote.
