Americans being told by the rest of the world to fight for our own democracy.

We should never have gotten here.

Keep resisting. ✊🏽

ProPublica received eight handwritten letters from children who have been held at the detention center that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was recently released from.

We'll let their words speak for themselves.

Good time to remind everyone that NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, a right-wing economist, has made it a personal goal to make sure lockdowns can never return.

Because in his mind, there is nothing that could ever justify shutting down the economy.

Utterly unacceptable in a democracy. In a sane world, House Republicans would be drafting impeachment articles today and Senate Republicans would be preparing for a trial to convict and remove him from office

"Hundreds of judges around the country have ruled more than 4,400 times since October that President Donald Trump’s administration is detaining immigrants unlawfully, a Reuters review of court records found."
Courts have ruled 4,400 times that ICE jailed people illegally. It hasn’t stopped.
The decisions amount to a huge legal rebuke, but the administration has continued jailing people indefinitely.

Perhaps the Red Cross and/or Amnesty International should be pressing hard to visit US immigration detention facilities.
When Texas lawmakers tried to visit 33-year-old “political prisoner” Leqaa Kordia at an ICE facility, she’d already lost 50 pounds and was running a high fever.

By Friday, she was hospitalized. But her family still has not been able to locate her.

So the US government can openly defy a judge’s order and deport someone anyway. Then a judge only “recommends” that she be returned to the US and the government can just say “nah”? What is this insanity? Why was it just a recommendation? What happened to the rule of law?

AWFUL news tonight. This blesses the “mandatory” detention in the 5th Circuit without bond (and little chance at habeas) of every undocumented immigrant who originally entered across the border, no matter how many decades in the past.

It will fuel ICE’s push to transfer people to Texas immediately.
