My cartoon for this week’s @newscientist.com

A comic strip in six panels. The panels inerlock like a jigsaw with knobs and sockets. Two stick figures walk right to left through all the panels.

Panel 1: Person 1 says "I hear you're working on a new theory."
Panel 2 & 3: Person 2 says: "Yes, I'm calling it the jigsaw model. I think it could change our whole View of reality."
Panel 4: Person 1 says "When Will you publish?:
Panel 5: Person 2 says "But a couple of things are still bothering me." (this piece/panel is a bit squint)
Panel 6: This piece is rotated ninety degees and fits to the others very badly. Person 2 is saying "Soon. I feel like I'm really close"
A second look at the whole comic shows that the last two panels read in the wrong order because the jigsaw has been put together incorrectly.

Played "i'm sorry did you say street magic" by @seaexcursion.itch.io while kayak camping in the San Juans.

Had a lot of fun with it and built an incredibly rich city with lots of fun neighborhoods, landmarks and residents. Highly recommend for any city-building you're looking to do!

Lots of index cards in the dirt with leaves strewn all around and tiny branches holding the cards down. Two pens, i'm sorry did you say street magic the book, a bottle of sunscreen, a Nalgeen, and the corner of the camping chair make up the rest of the objects. There should be index cards bent and tented to represent events but we were running out of index cards so we just wrote events on the back of cards. Much fun had by all

Even though Mount desperately wants a tussle with Basey, engages him first, and then potentially purposefully falls over, Basey is called for the foul because...?

Man U gets a free roll with two wide open headers, which they laughably can't get out of their own way to take, and then a pen.

Mount's falling and pulling on Basey's shirt, as well as Shaw's blatant tackle which then causes all four to fall over, is the point. They have no desire to try for the ball. Success for them is only measured in moving the defenders out of the way, which they succeed at with fouling.

That Manchester United penalty highlights such a clear fault w/ VAR, a lack of tactical awareness.

The set piece is clearly set up for Mount and Shaw to tackle their guards & clear up space at the back post for Cunha & Casimero to get free headers, and it went perfectly according to plan.

Really anti-climactic ending to the clone fight. He just kinda dodged and threw him off the bridge. There’s some ball hitting jokes

They’ve escaped the planet. The aliens try to blow them up with a bomb they hid in the treasure but they accidentally left the treasure behind and the aliens blow up
