Why was Bobby Vinton’s ‘Blue Velvet’ number 31 in the UK charts in 1990? The only reason I can imagine is that when Twin Peaks started, the BBC went a bit mad for documentaries about Lynch and screenings of his films

I write because I love writing. I love writing even when I'm struggling with a writing problem that is killing me. Finding a way through that problem is both intensely rewarding and also helps me become a better writer. There is no reason for me to ever outsource that.

I really initially expected an animated adventure with some marvellous artwork….and there is all that for the kids, yet there’s also all this other wonderful stuff around it; the weirdly archaic remnants of human life, the existential & spiritual questions that invite analysis & discussion. Amazing

What a beautiful film. The cat is obviously ace (writer/director Gints Zilbalodis clearly a lover of the little buggers), the animation & visual style is superb, the completely dialogue-fee storytelling successfully builds a world tinged with sadness & full of wonder.
