I continue to marvel at locals' frothing opposition to any housing that isn't a detached house.

Apparently 104 units' worth of apartments will cause more droughts in Dartmouth while also dragging us towards some sort of communist dystopia.

Sigh. Suppose it beats "but the neighbourhood character!"

Canada’s new consulate in #Greenland is co-located with Iceland’s Consulate General. A great example of Arctic collaboration and northern teamwork in action!

Thank you, #Iceland!

I seem to recall the US recently losing what passes for its damn mind because one of our premiers quoted a former president without written permission(!).

Now here's the Treasury Secretary publicly advocating for Canada's dissolution, and I assume there'll barely be a peep about it.

#sigh
Bessent pushes Albertan independence from Canada: "Albertans are very independent people. There's a rumor they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not. People are talking. People want sovereignty. They want what the US has got."

Someone finally points out publicly that the US has destroyed the existing geopolitical order and we need to start defending against the results of that.

"Our view is the middle powers must act together because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu."

Can we, like, just stop having public comment as part of the process of approving new housing? Please?

Great example today of why I often make the distinction between generative "AI" and machine learning tools for utility for historians.

I would like to propose we identify whoever kicked off the "caption videos with only one word at a time, popping up for a fraction of a second each, in the centre of the video" thing, and launch that person directly into the Kuiper belt.

(I'd prefer the sun, but we mustn't waste propellant.)

It's completely unacceptable.

What about this is controversial? Beginning an inquiry by using AI to survey material is a very normal and appropriate use.
