Adjective verber of nouns
I would like to propose we identify whoever kicked off the "caption videos with only one word at a time, popping up for a fraction of a second each, in the centre of the video" thing, and launch that person directly into the Kuiper belt.

(I'd prefer the sun, but we mustn't waste propellant.)

Pondering the fact that of the seven extensions I have installed on my browser five are some kind of defensive in nature and three are "no, Specific Website, you don't get to do that obnoxious thing anymore" workarounds.

Ahhh, the glory of the modern internet!

I can't imagine a body representing professional historians recommending this, but here we are...

It's completely unacceptable.

Here are just a few reasons why.
What about this is controversial? Beginning an inquiry by using AI to survey material is a very normal and appropriate use.

Human rights are universal and inherent.

Anything less attacks everyone by allowing rights to be understood as conferred and conditional.

"Sports participation isn't a right," you say?

Check out Articles 22 and 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Who needs a tourism industry anyway?

Leaving aside the "lolno" factor of requiring all social media posts to be publicly fishable, I wonder if, e.g., forums with members-only areas are also disqualifiers.

(I'd wonder re: listservs but they already demand email access.)

US could ask tourists for five-year social media history before entry
The plan would affect people from countries, including the UK, who can fill out a form in lieu of a visa.

Welp, after a year of dancing around it it seems the US is formally declaring Europe to be an enemy in need of regime change.
1/ The new US National Security Strategy blames 'undemocratic' European governments for failing to make peace with Russia, takes a pro-Russian position on NATO, reflects white nationalist views on European demographics, and pledges overt support for far-right parties. ⬇️

Nothing like glancing at RAM prices to make me *really* glad I upgraded last fall instead of this fall.

RAM from 2023 that I bought for $150 in 2024 costing $580 in 2025 sure is ... not typically the direction those numbers are supposed to go.

Thanks to @pcstewart.bsky.social, I went looking for this source wherein firing on shipwrecked survivors is literally the United States' DoD textbook example of a clearly illegal order at pp. 1088-89

Ah, juggling "major musical influence's death" and "frustration at the hate-drenched vileness of the brainworms that she absorbed in her later years."

As a friend elsewhere said, I hope that never happens to me, but if it does I hope people around me care enough to confiscate the keyboard.

I'd be willing to bet there isn't a city on this country where the "Regina-related" notes wouldn't still apply in every detail.
It's budget time so at the end of our interview w/ Mayor Bachynski, we gave him a printed poster of the image below. It's the density vs services vs taxes venn diagram that @brenttoderian.bsky.social often shares around. It includes Regina-related explanatory notes. #yqrcc

I know the roughly-monthly capitulation plans being thrown at Ukraine by the US are always going to be ridiculous, but the latest one including a ban on foreign *diplomats* visiting Ukraine seems especially insane.
