Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh close. It’s the earliest “organized” Christian faith, but you’ll find some conjecture about it for early forms of Christianity that first deviated from the Jewish faith.

Most modern branches derive more closely from Protestantism, but Catholicism predates all of those. The Protestant church formed in reaction to Catholic power (which is an understatement tbh).

Every time someone corrects a Catholic when they call themselves Christian, I want to punch them in the face.
