Journalist Alyssa Rosenberg read 21,000 emails sent to The Washington Post after the paper didn’t endorse a presidential candidate in 2024.
“Reading and editing letters gave me a theory about what is wrong with America — and how it could be fixed,” she writes.

another data point of a Dem MORE popular on trans issues than they are in the abstract. As with abortion, the theory of a socially conservative electorate before whom libs must cringe is simply not borne out in general.
5. The CNU poll shows Spanberger with a commanding +10 lead in the governor’s race. When asked which candidate would better handle transgender issues, voters sided with Spanberger over Earle-Sears by a 50–37 margin, giving Spanberger a whopping +13 advantage.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.
Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

the singular failure of the Biden era was not jailing Trump and his high-level coup plotters for that crime while Biden controlled the federal government; this failure is manifest now in Trump having blanket permission to rule as a king from SCOTUS and the default loyalty of federal police. Hell!

We were overthrown and the reaction our incoming leadership had was to scold the perpetrators and then pretend that holding them accountable would be “playing politics”

I tend to think the problems of our USA are older and broader than Mr Trump's presidencies, aren't they?

On the contrary: it is the lack of auto-critique that has brought us where we are. It is clear the Democrats aren't having any of it and it gives them a false start, because underprepared and cosmetic. It is, with the words of Timothy Snyder, unprofessional.

There is a class of left-leaning person who has fully bought into the idea that claiming intellectual superiority while being condescending and insulting is the right way to influence people politically. Nothing makes them more angry than when you gently suggest there's a reason nobody likes them.

Trump wraps up a speech to military leaders that represented a major escalation of his effort to weaponize the armed forces into a tool he can use to violently quash domestic dissent. Hard to imagine how anyone with a shred of dignity can keep serving after this, which of course is the point.

True, but it is still the weights and biases of the algorithm manipulated by the Russians on US applications that determine the stories the legacy bunch run with. If only editors read stories more than spreadsheets huh! But that would just make them look disinterested in the peoples choices.

After diplomatic blitz on Ukraine and Gaza, Trump moves to passenger seat
After months of focusing on the world's most intractable conflicts, President Trump has largely withdrawn from diplomacy. Instead, he has allowed and in some cases pressed allies to take the lead, with only distant promises of U.S. help.
