Well, I'm here, now. I'm glad to see that many of my favorite people (and cats) are here too, although I haven't searched for my entire list of previous follows from the bird site yet. Still also known as @[email protected] on Mastodon and u/PhD_Frog on Reddit.
This makes me sick. I knew that there was an organization that had responsibility for maintaining the historical character of the White House and approving all changes, but not that Trump had deliberately decapitated it.
"Frog" was my childhood nickname; I wear glasses, and decided to go with it instead of getting offended. Plus there was Kermit and all that, green was what I wanted to be. Nowadays I'm sure glad that frogs have been liberated from being a racist/facist meme to heroes of decency and democracy! 🐸
I wonder if these images might do more to turn people against Trumpism than anything else he's ever said or done. It makes me want to throw up, anyway. 🤮 Trump's done what the 9/11 terrorists failed to do to the White House....
The images of the White House destruction are gut-wrenching. If Trump taking a figurative wrecking ball to American democracy and institutions wasn't bad enough, here he's doing it literally to the people's house.
“As construction proceeds on the White House grounds, employees should refrain from taking and sharing photographs of the grounds, to include the East Wing, without prior approval”

Exclusive | Treasury Tells Employees Not to Share Photos of White House Ballroom Construction
Images of the demolition of parts of the East Wing went viral on Monday, and Treasury’s headquarters next door to the White House has a front-row seat.

Indeed. There was that big structural reconstruction in the Truman(?) administration where they had to add steel framing to keep the building from collapsing, but since then most of the renovations of the public spaces have been aimed at restoring/preserving the history of the building.
They also implicitly debunked some of the false right-wing claims, like that the protesters or organizers were paid by George Soros, that the participants all hate America or are communists or violent radicals, etc.
OTOH, I was very pleasantly surprised by the article in the Colorado Springs Gazette, which is normally super-conservative in its editorial policies. In-depth interviews with the local organizers and a focus on the many military veterans who participated.

‘We have to do something’: No Kings movement returns to Colorado Springs
“Vote! Vote! Vote!” Protesting the direction of the country under President Donald Trump, the single word was chanted by thousands Saturday during the “No Kings” rally in Colorado Springs. The chant i...

I know there are some people out there who will never forgive or forget, but going after folks who now come out publicly to say they regret having enabled Trump and want to make amends is hardly likely to encourage others to peel off the Trump bandwagon.
A few days ago I skeeted about repentance and forgiveness in the context of Chris Christie, and in the post-Trump era we're going to have to grapple with this on a larger scale, like the problem of the Confederates after the Civil War or the Germans who supported Hitler after WW II.
Not "everyone" else just accepts this as the way things are. 🤮 I'm beyond disgusted, even though I've known he's not been fit to hold public office for decades.
Me too. The organizers did a great job, and all the people in costume deserve credit for making it fun too!
That's changing as Colorado Springs is growing very rapidly and becoming quite purple nowadays. The surrounding rural areas are still deep red.
Some photos from #NoKingsDay Colorado Springs. Lots of folks dressed up in inflatable costumes!
I saw in the Colorado Springs reddit that a Trump truck showed up to troll the marchers here, too, and got pulled over by the police at least twice. Apparently they were too dumb to figure out how to secure their flags.
I am so up for this. 🐸 I was a frog for DECADES before that Pepe nonsense and it's been a trial that so many folks associate my longstanding nickname with racism and neo-Nazis. I love that Kermit-style decency and silliness are making a comeback!
MSNBC Grandmas in Skechers seamlessly reclaiming the frog from 4chan Nazis in about six weeks has gotta be the political upset of the century.
Folks, if you're going to #NoKings, consider bringing a flag instead of a sign. We normal folks need to reclaim patriotism from the Republicans who think it means turning us into a dictatorship.
Mike Johnson on No Kings: "We refer to it by its more accurate description -- the Hate America Rally. You're gonna bring together the Marxists, the socialists, the antifa advocates, the anarchists, and the pro-Hamas wing of the far left Democrat Party. That is the modern Democratic Party."

The only market in America that's doing well is frog costumes.

The most corrupt administration, the most corrupt party, the most corrupt people

They’re all crooks
Yes! I'm so happy to see the frog being rescued from dishonor as a symbol of the far right! 🐸

If you're going to a No Kings march instead of a witty sign that might elicit a chuckle maybe you could just carry an American flag
