“When you have a disability people can’t see, you don’t get the same level of empathy. It feels like the world has moved on.”

It’s shameful how society is gaslighting people who are experiencing chronic illness and ignoring an ongoing public health crisis.
Long Covid Is Real -- And It's Changing an Entire Generation
Long Covid is affecting hundreds of thousands of kids in America, and many doctors and schools refuse to recognize their illness.

Children and teenagers are twice as likely to develop long Covid after a second coronavirus infection as after an initial infection, a large new study has found.

75% of the children in the study had never had a COVID vaccine.

Same thing with me last week! Maryland (has thus far) made it easy. I wish everyone could have this level of access if they desire.
It was my absolute pleasure to raise awareness and provide some clinical strategies for managing pediatric Long COVID Pediatric Grand Rounds at USUHS this week #longcovid #iaccs
Grateful to Dr Alexandra Yonts @pidringer.bsky.social from Children’s National and George Washington University for joining us at Uniformed Services University Pediatric Grand Rounds today to speak on the topic of Pediatric Long Covid

I just left a comment. It doesn't have to be long or detailed. Some nice information here: peoplescdc.substack.com/p/vaccine-ac...

I need every single journalist covering vaccine stuff at the FDA to be explicit about this. Thank you @katherinejwu.com.

There is a genuine open question regarding the degree of benefit for otherwise healthy kids to get seasonal COVID-19 boosters.
With nary a word about Long COVID and protection for those who desire it....
Booooo, this guy? Of course the Trump administration would replace a well respected scientist and public health hero with a money and attention grubbing Twitter "celebrity"https://www.statnews.com/2025/05/06/vinay-prasad-fda-center-for-biologics-evaluation-and-research-peter-marks-hhs-rfk-jr-makary/

Several of the previously healthy children with severe life threatening infections that I cared for this past week, and their families, might like a word here….
The U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services has repeatedly claimed: “If you’re healthy, it’s almost impossible to die from an infectious disease in modern times.”

That is dangerously false.

Experts Push Back on RFK Jr’s Infection Comments
The new Secretary of Health and Human Services has made claims about measles and other communicable diseases that could lead to sickness, and even death, his critics claim.

Very vocal patient advocate community and some champions (and long covid patients, like Tim Kaine himself) on HELP! It is a slight relief to see that speaking up can make a difference some times.
I'd love to know at what point an illness becomes chronic. 10 years? 15 years? When, RFK Jr, when? Bc apparently 5 years of disabling fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, pain, nausea, isn't long enough...
The callousness and hypocrisy of this administration is staggering 💔 😥🤬

Standing UP for science!
What horrors await us at 5pm on a Friday this week?
Helping fight chronic disease, you say? Bull$hit. Long COVID IS a chronic disease. Getting rid of the AC before we've even had a chance to begin our work is a travesty and a slap in the face to Americans with Long COVID and other infection associated chronic conditions.
