My dad had Parkinson’s dementia. As the disease slowly took him away, I came to treasure the moments of clarity we shared. He knew what was happening, and he faced it with such dignity and determination. Seeing this post made me feel him again.

Despite what Trump may have you think, shutdowns do not require presidents to 
❌ fire people en masse,
❌ cancel projects,
❌ or target political opposition.

This isn't our first shutdown, but it IS the first time a President has tried to use one to hurt the American people.
