Facilitating a silent retreat at Prince of Peace Abbey in as warplanes & helicopters thunder overhead firing live ammo is not what I’d envisioned for this particular Saturday. But the trees & gardens here are lovely. Mercy, hear our prayer.

There’s something peculiar about constantly showing images of bad people with the news. Their actions are significant, of course; but these people are small and far away from what most of us see every day. What most of us see every day is beautiful or has beauty in it.
