Strangely put out by another parent commenting on a post about the music performance today saying 'the boy on the trumpet was best!'
There were 4 soloists, all of whom were 9 or 10. Singling out one seems mean spirited, and I'm sure I'd feel that way even if one of my kids hadn't been one of them.

School music concert this afternoon, for the kids learning instruments. Had absolutely no idea 9yo was playing a trombone solo until it started. He did brilliantly ❤️

Downstairs making breakfast this morning and I hear the dulcet tones of my children arguing. Two minutes later and littlest comes downstairs sobbing. 'Mammy! 9yo called me a penis!'

4yo is adamant he isn't involved in his school nativity because he 'doesn't like dressing up'. I said he could still play a part but wear his school uniform instead of a costume? He glowered at me and said 'I. Do. Not. Like. Dressing. Up.' So there's me told.

Only left 4yo for one night but missed him so much. Three of us were on the big wheel at Hyde Park yesterday and spotted a kids ride with Lightning McQueen. All of us awwed and said 'Oh, he would have loved that!' And when 9yo fell over, he got upset and said 'I just want to be at home with 4yo!' 😢

Show finished four and a half hours ago and we're currently still three hours from our drop off point, which is an hour from home 😭 Coach had a fault and we needed to change coaches just outside London. Horrendous motorway traffic and now we've found out there's been a big crash further up.

On coach just getting out of central London after Wicked. This was the main reason we came, as 9yo has been wanting to see it for a long time. He loved it 😭 I looked at his face when she flies in Defying Gravity and he was so awestruck I started to cry.

We've been doing Hyde Park Winter Wonderland today. Gotta admit, it was included in the tour or I'm not sure we would have bothered. Waiting in the rain on Park Lane for our coach to the hotel after five long hours there (!), I have to say I think my initial hunch was right 😬

And literally ten minutes before we leave for a six (seven?) hour coach journey, 9yo realises his Switch has no battery and it desperately needs to be charged. So both the switch and his charger have been unpacked and the suitcase is open on the sitting room floor rather than waiting at the door 🙄

I'm off to London in the morning for an overnight stay with biggest. He's very excited. I, meanwhile, am wracked with guilt at leaving littlest, and keep cuddling him. Second time I've left him in four years and first time voluntarily 😢

Had a really lovely day with my friend. As predicted, we went to a cafe for 90 minutes, shopped for 45, had an hour long lunch, shopped for another hour and then off to a cafe before home time 🤣 A bit of hassle with my train being cancelled but back in Durham now, tired and thankful for friends ❤️
