Historian, podcaster (isn't everyone?), ex-professor, Canadian and American, consumer of ridiculous amounts of tv and film, grumpy person. https://liesagreedupon.com/
Everyone should be supporting the journalism and public service of @lataco.bsky.social. This list is heartbreaking. But at least there are people standing witness.

Ok - what?!? How on earth can Joni Mitchell not already have a lifetime achievement Juno award?

[checks fine print] There have only been 3 recipients!?!?! WTF? Way to keep it exclusive, Junos. No worry that someone undeserving is gonna sneak in.
Joni Mitchell to receive lifetime achievement award at Junos as Nelly Furtado joins Hall of Fame
Mitchell will become only the third recipient of the top honour

The post-clinic volunteering taco spot didn’t have its door locked or anyone watching out for la migra so nature is truly healing.
Heartbreaking stuff. And more good journalism from @charlotteobserver.com which has been a part of an incredible effort from local media to cover this past week’s attack on our city.

Behind this important reversal is a member of the Coast Guard who saw what was happening and had the courage to leak it to the press. That person deserves serious praise.

Evil weasels!

And, if you turn it off, you lose the categorization of primary, promotions, etc. Even spellcheck.

Again, mfing weasels.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

This is a huge deal. DHS has lied about this Chicago incident every step of the way and now all charges have been thrown out. It’s a reminder that you should not trust what the out of control border agents say about anything.
#BREAKING Federal prosecutors in Chicago move to dismiss charges against Marimar Martinez, the woman shot by Border Patrol in Brighton Park, as well as her co-defendant Anthony Ruiz.

It's almost as if training, expertise and experience are necessary in order to be good at your job. In fact–stay with me on this one, I know it sounds crazy–randomly doling out appointments to opportunistic sycophants might be lowering the quality of their performance.
This is the relevant discussion from Monday's opinion — and I think(?) it suggests(?) that someone (Halligan?) did, in fact, alter the third image, after it was signed, to add the "Count 1 only" language — perhaps to try and "unwind this procedural knot"?

Political journalism, and the elite tier of journalism generally, got taken over by billionaire courtiers, conservative activists and sex-pest dipshits and those three groups have largely hounded the real reporters out of the profession as a matter of class self-interest.

This encapsulates the insanity of American late stage kleptocapitalism. And it's been so normalized that this doesn't even seem that weird. Of course you have to pay to file. Doesn't everyone, everywhere?

Pretty much sums it up.
Trump and his GOP allies are desperately trying to starve 40 million people as hostages so that Dems will let them double everyone's health insurance costs.

All so they can pay for tax cuts for billionaires.
