Learned today that @duanegwatson.bsky.social and I have been awarded NSF funding to investigate the effects of reading exposure on second language processing! I can’t put into words my gratitude to all the people at NSF who continue to do the good work. Feeling especially proud to be #firstgen 🍾

I hereby name this symbol "the schwat".

I will be taking no questions.

The logo for the social media platform Threads, in white on a solid black background. The logo looks like the "at" symbol with a schwa in the middle instead of a lowercase letter A.

As a chronically bad sleeper, I started reading right before bed to help lull me to sleep. Now I can't read articles at night without my eyelids getting heavy two pages in.

I just wrote "correctment" instead of "correction" in a class email, so that's how I'm doing on the second week of classes.

Fascism and trade wars are inherently more dangerous to those who are struggling the most.

Immigrants, people of colour, LGBTQ+, disabled & elderly people will be hit the hardest.

People say “we survived them once & we can survive them again!”

Many did NOT survive. We fight in their memory.

Toxicologist here! This will improve the health of zero Americans. Current synthetic food dyes are not causing health problems, and are often times used because they are actually safer than natural food dyes. Reminder that guns are the #1 cause of death of children but we are going to ban food dyes.

I’m so angry & heart broken. My NSF CAREER grant was stolen today; dream project supporting science teachers/students as climate justice action researchers, tackling urban heat. Truly transformative, the culmination of my life’s work, we won’t stop, not in this climate crisis. Gonna fight like hell!

Bravo, y’all 👏🏽 — finances is the excuse, but the truth is the support wasn’t there because of the backlash.
