hi. sorry to do this again but life sucks
it’s almost the middle of the month which means it is that time when i am broke. after mortgage, bills, paying out IHTOV writers, etc. i am absolutely tapped and still need to put gas in my car, pay the heating bill, and get some food. things should clear up by december; i have some money coming my way. but for now i am struggling thanks to unexpected repairs and emergencies. i hate this, but here i am. if you like my posts and appreciate IHTOV and want to throw me a buck or two, i appreciate all the help i get here. don’t know where i’d be without it. venmo is michele-catalano2659, paypal is michele.catalano at gmail. thank you

Something else I've been noticing with film canon shifting is that when I was getting more into film, Nolan's INTERSTELLAR had come out and was seen as an absolute failure at the time, primarily from the millennial critics who adored TDK. Now it's probably the pick for Gen Z's favorite Nolan

Eslam has, once again, had her account deleted. This is untenable, unjust, and aiding in genocide. PLEASE share her fundraiser so she can continue getting help to her family. Repost if you cannot donate chuffed.org/project/1282...

Hollywood writers too. The number of people I know who have left Los Angeles since 2020 makes me really sad.

You should be concerned about the rate of authors leaving publishing. Especially from marginalized communities. This year I have seen so many authors just pack it up and go. And it's only getting worse.

Democrats have learned absolutely nothing and its why they are polling (as a party) worse than he is.

“At least we’re not Trump” failed with Kamala. It WILL fail again in 2028.

I love reading these responses btw, it's fun to see how film culture changes with time

Of course this isn't "unknown", but I remember Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut were seen as Kubrick films that weren't essential to his filmography, now they've fully eclipsed Full Metal Jacket and even A Clockwork Orange

throwing this prompt from Twitter in here. what examples you got?
tweet by @Caol_MacCormaic that reads, uncs of film twitter: what are some movies that are canonical now but were basically unknown when we were coming up? like Come and See or Possession. inversely: what are some movies or filmmakers that seem to have fallen off? (Takashi Miike comes to mind)

I'm excited for Limp Bizkit, but I'm a little worried about Antifa...
Question
I'm sick and tired of seeing these thugs terrorize big events and am worried that they will try to interrupt Limp Bizkit's set. My gf (F19) and I (M31) are going to our first Lollapalooza and are concerned about the growing threat around the city

Threw on the new Criterion of NIGHTMARE ALLEY 2021 and forgot that the reappearance of Richard Jenkins and Mary Steenburgen makes this the Catalina Wine Mixer of Guillermo Del Toro's oeuvre.

Don Henley's The End of the Innocence

You know, I liked more of the legacy artists' records than I was expecting to but Jesus Christ, this sucked ass. Is "How Bad Do You Want It?" the worst song I've heard for this project? Maybe not, but it definitely *sounds* the worst

3 Feet High and Rising is still a classic of course, but the interludes only get harder to swallow on each listen. Main songs are still incredibly fun though.

Snore.

Pop Will Eat Itself's This is the Day was a lot of fun, but with hip-hop rapidly evolving around this point, the Licensed to Ill-worshiping flows are easily the worst part. Will always be a sucker for industrial rap fusion though, so I ended up digging it.

Kirsty MacColl's Kite is so good too! Didn't know what to expect, but goddamn there was so much charm and personality to her music
