Flight is delayed (for non air traffic control reasons)

I need to get home to my cat

This is bullshit

Though if I must be stuck this is the best of the four because I feel like I’ve been flying Honky Airlines and no merciful deity would force me to spend that much time with that many white people

I’m reading through the entire decision right now, and one of the things that strikes me is how rapidly these cases are building on one another’s precedent. These judges are very consciously drawing on past decisions and constructing foundations for the next cases, and it’s FASCINATING to watch.

Whoa, Judge Perry says the Feds’ declarations about unrest at ICE facilities are not credible because some of the incidents they cite in their declarations were separately no-billed by grand juries
The Court therefore must make a credibility assessment as to which version of the facts
should be believed. While the Court does not doubt that there have been acts of vandalism, civil
disobedience, and even assaults on federal agents, the Court cannot conclude that Defendants' declarations are reliable. Two of Defendants' declarations refer to arrests made on September 27,
2025 of individuals who were carrying weapons and assaulting federal agents. See Doc. 62-2 at
19; Doc. 62-4 at 5. But neither declaration discloses that federal grand juries have refused to
return an indictment against at least three of those individuals, which equates to a finding of a lack of probable cause that any crime occurred. See United States v. Ray Collins and Jocelyne Robledo, 25-cr-608, Doc. 26 (N.D. Ill. Oct. 7, 2025); United States v. Paul Ivery, 25-cr-609

As is always correct and in accordance with all the laws of the internet, I just watched Tom Holland's epic Lip Sync Battle performance, and now I am sharing it with all of you so you can do the same.

There was a straight white man on my flight who talked from the second he sat down til after I walked out of earshot to get off the plane… in such a clear, carrying voice that I could hear parts of what he said over my audiobook from four rows ahead.

Auditory manspreading: captive audience edition.

Dear fellow air travelers, please respect the existence of the terminal as a liminal space which must be endured, and do not make it worse by playing videos on your phone with no headphones, having inane conversations with your seatmate, or allowing your traveling companion(s) to disturb others.

And the lawsuits will follow promptly. Government shutdowns give presidents no additional authority to dismiss federal workers. We’ll fight these outrageous assaults on civil servants and public services.

It is a specific kind of hell when you can’t put your earbuds in at the airport terminal because you have to charge your phone and THERE IS NO SEPARATE HEADPHONE JACK AND YOU HAVE NO DONGLE FOR IT

There is a small child with a high pitched voice near me and I can’t drown it out. Help.

I rarely spent much time with Dad’s side of the family because everyone was scattered and had their own stuff they were dealing with but seeing the Aunts was special. I got a look at the strength, beauty and kindness I inherited along with our more… provoking traits.

I’m an ambivert but the jet lag, sensory stuff, and the unconscious but intense mental processes of observing familiar places with uncanny-valley changes have done a number on my energy. (The people are basically the same, in a good healthy kind of way, bless them. Despite their many struggles.)

Shout out to my folks for paying for a hotel. Having my own space with ZERO noise or interaction for 15 hours a day is why I’ve been able to keep my mood and my energy levels up enough to enjoy my trip.

It‘s easy to scroll social media and get the impression that everyone is doing better than you. But that’s rarely the full picture.

All this to say, it’s not just you. The industry is so, so hard right now. Do what you have to do to stay in the game. Don’t give up. Keep writing.

So what kind of sacrifice: movie Satanism style, Wicker Man style, consuming one’s enemies to absorb their power, or…?

(I am behind on my scary season movie count for the month because vacation)
