I obviously loved this game, but I say this with all sincerity: GOOD. I do not like any video game more than I hate gen AI.
As a bonus, the map function is noticeably worse, to the point that it sent me to the wrong place 3 out of 3 times so far. So glad we’re all going to die for this useful and great technology.
my phone updated and now the map directions voice is so obviously AI and holy fuck I can not stand this shit it is like my bones grating together every time I hear that voice that sounds almost human but definitely isn’t human haven’t you fucks ever heard of the uncanny valley AHHHHH

I don’t think Larian understood that when they casually talk about their use of genAI it wasn’t spoken into a board room or a zoom call full of people thinking about numbers, it was to a host of fans who looked to them as an example of humanity and art persisting in spite of things like that.
