Regulation won't fix our broken water system.

You have until 3rd December to tell DEFRA exactly why their plans for a new fines system won't work.

Take 2 minutes now to complete the consultation.

Coming next: deport all migrant birds.
The Telegraph is worried that feeding themselves is a blue tit's personal responsibility and that feeding the creates dependency, removing the incentive for birds to work and improve themselves, and thus perpetuate the problem of hunger amongst blue tits

Those who don't acknowledge the "transcendent excellence of peace" but see it solely as a transactional chip, will never be peacemakers.

Just so. But there's always a few who will jump aboard.
He’s lied himself into a place of utter political irrelevance.

The Covid enquiry only confirmed this

Why would anyone trust anything he says ever again?

If there’s to be criminal charges, I hope this is the last time we hear from him. I’d rather attention went to the families of those who died

It's the day of Cecilia, called saint, patron of music and musicians.

Here will we sit and let the sounds of music
Creep in our ears: soft stillness and the night
Become the touches of sweet harmony."

You cant parachute asylum seekers into deprived areas, in completely inappropriate housing, then say those migrants are 'dividing our country'. You divided the country because you can't organise a basic service and process claims in a timely way

Interesting stimulus to an instructive series of replies. Mind observing itself.
This is I think an underrated truth: being intelligent is I think primarily a matter of habit. Do you actually listen and try and take on board what you've heard or read before responding? Do you go 'okay, is that true?' about your own thoughts and prejudices? These are learnt, not innate.
and ultimately I think if you’re constantly saying stupid stuff then it just makes you stupid.

And a good time to remind ourselves that everything we receive in any form of media is the result of some editorial decision.
Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …
