To bring it into a fandom context, I actually don’t have any power to stop people seeing any character as bi, and neither does any other lesbian. Us saying somebody is a lesbian is just that and nothing more. But so often it gets treated as an attack instead.

Collecting sensitive documents, like ID is an especially bad idea.

Do not collect shit that you do not need to collect, ever.
