Put a colon in the middle there and you got yourself a movie title

Holy fucking shit you're right. It's never been cheaper to do spaceships and the like, too.

One thousand percent, couldn't agree more. This is also part of a larger conversation about how I wish studios would start making lower-stakes movies again and stop acting like everything has to be the world's biggest success.

Why you need to spend 100mil to make some glowy obelisks look ominous?

Tron is stylish and niche, always has been. What confuses me about it, is that I don't think you really need a crazy budget to make these movies anymore. Like, the visuals are hyper stylized, but Tron has never been hyper realistic -- it's gloss is fully part of its appeal. I just don't know...

and as a tron defender you couldn't pay me to see that fucking new one

tron is so obviously a really fun series for a specific niche of weirdos and for some reason they keep convincing themselves that it can be some mainstream breakout hit. it can't be, but also it SHOULDN'T be. leaning into its shit and narrowing its audience would have a clearer, better result

"well what are the Democrats supposed to do" I don't know! They're supposed to know! I'm not the one who sought and obtained a political position that would require me to know what to do when the ruling party attempts to install the President as a dictator!

I swear this was more normal when I was a kid! Maybe I just had weird friends that likes to leave through the theater exit.

It’s wild that half my career has been spent on projects that never shipped. They either got canceled or the studio shuttered. I don’t mourn them with the exception of one sci-fi project that was so stunning. Years of work down the drain. I did get a couple Chris Foss sketches out of it though.

This means if you're in the UK and haven't signed this yet, please do. At 100k signatures they have to discuss it again.

Literally the least you can do!!

UK Gouvernment: Payment Processors Can Ban NSFW Content
According to the UK treasury, payment processors are in the right and the gouvernment has no plans to step in. This puts it in direct contrast to what artists and the UK games industry have asked for.

i've always loved the jetsons conceptually and it's maddening that there isn't a single piece of jetsons media that i could recommend anyone watch

they basically leveraged that into the goal of making the cartoons they THOUGHT they grew up on

i heard a story about when mccracken tartakovsky started working at CN they got access to the whole hannah barbera archives for the first time and they were stoked to revisit everything that made them want to make cartoons when they were kids, only to be heartbroken to discover how bad they were

I’m getting big “artists at a con circulating the same $20 around” vibes but like, in an evil way

#AltText tip:

say you're noticing an image in an art gallery. what first comes to mind? who is it, what is it doing, what caught your eye, right? jot that down, then leave it be ❤️

examples below:
a fluffy tuxedo cat asleep on a yellow pillow caspar and linhardt napping next to each other in an aether resort inn. caspar has a stuffed bear; linhardt, a dragon. meme of a plush duckling holding a plastic knife, captioned, "It is bed o'clock. You best be sleeping" a minimalist sketch of chibi byleth tucked into bed

It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.
