I don’t know what it is about biscuit = cookie that trips me up. Crisps for chips? Chips for fries? Not a problem. Jumper had become part of my lexicon. Maybe it’s because I’m a Texan that I just equate biscuits with biscuits and gravy and my brain rejects that word for cookie.

I’ve been in a relationship with my British husband for 11 years, and we’ve watched Great British Bake Off every year. Yet, whenever Biscuit Week rolls around, I turn to my husband and say “Oh right, a biscuit is a cookie.” And he nods very charitably and confirms my observation like I’m a child.

Fun fact: last week I got my royalty statement. It was for the last 6 months, and it was for my two books that have been banned.

Just so you know how rich we get off banned books, that check was a whopping $51.

it is so good, I ended up getting that as my free A*dible e-audiobook. If you love that, I definitely recommend The Men Who Would Be King, which is about the founding of Dreamworks. The Rise of the MCU is also a great one.

"suspending indefinitely" of Jimmy Kimmel immediately after the Chairman of the FCC's aggressive yet hollow threatening of the Disney Company is yet another example of out-of-control intimidation. Maybe the Constitution should have said, "Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, except in one's political or financial self-interest." By-the-way, for the record, this ex-CEO finds Jimmy Kimmel very talented and funny.

also, a LOT of public libraries had Friends of the Library groups that have a used bookstore, and many also sell DVDs and blu-rays that we donated. so not only can you get something for yourself, but the money you pay goes back into your library to fund programs and services.
