Have been going for an increasingly big, fluffy, ‘80s-ish hairstyle lately. Went to the doctor’s this week and they added a full inch to my height. Probably a sign to tone it down a bit.

We have a similar warning at our local mall! Lots of people who want to climb whale statues, I guess.

Don’t tell me how to live my life.
A sign stating “Please DO NOT climb on or around the whale as to ensure the safety of all guests.” On the sign is a crossed-out picture of a person climbing a whale.

And use a proper stepladder rather than clambering on top of a table in high heels.

The people demand the reinstatement of Felis.

Did you know there was once a domestic cat constellation? 'Felis' was created by French astronomer Joseph Jérôme Lefrançois de Lalande in 1799, but the International Astronomical Union dumped Felis when they created their official constellation boundaries in 1930. www.ianridpath.com/startales/fe...
Old timey star chart illustration of a shorthaired ginger and white cat floating amongst overlapping grids and little black stars. The word "Felis" is written underneath.

Today’s lunch: bread and butter, blackberries, tea. I’ve become a Beatrix Potter character.

Oh no. Tom Lehrer gone. At his great age, it’s not a tragedy, I know, but it just does feel bad not having his genius in the world.

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp: The armistice scene. Like the rest of the film, superbly written and acted. Unlike the rest of the film, filmed on the most distractingly obvious soundstage you’ve ever seen and looks like an episode of Star Trek where they time travel to WWI.
Roger Livesey and John Laurie on a very unconvincing WWI battlefield in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp.

Starting to suspect that Apple Music’s Classic Rock station is really just the same Cars album on perpetual repeat.

Today in Google’s entertainingly useless AI: searching “demonym” + “noun” + “Scrabble strategy” produces a cornucopia of increasingly silly results. Going to win all my Scrabble games with a combination of the Parisian finesse and the Viennese blockade.

In an ever-shifting world where change comes so quickly it can be disorienting, even unsettling, it’s reassuring to be able to count on some consistent rites — like the annual ritual of the Toronto Maple Leafs exiting the Stanley Cup playoffs.

As a kid, I had a clock radio with a sleep timer which caused the radio to play for an hour so you could fall asleep to music. Based on this, I assumed there was a national law strictly limiting everyone to one hour of radio per day. Unclear why I thought radio had to be rationed.

“Bizarre things you firmly believed when a kid” is one of my favorite genres and I firmly believe we all have excellent examples if we can remember them
