The first film I remember seeing at the cinema was Star Trek VI in which Captain Sulu plays a heroic and honourable role.

It warms my heart to see him, in the alter ego of @georgetakei.bsky.social, continue to be heroic and honourable some 35 years later!
Hi friends,

As many of you know, ICE is operating in ways that tear families apart, enter homes without warrants, and traumatize innocent people. This is not law enforcement — this is terror and an abuse of power.

They always supported Starmer for *who he is* (specifically *not Corbyn*) rather than for what he represents. People who vote for "who" rather than "what" are always slow to shift, even when the "what" turns into a catastrophic shit-storm.
First stage of denial: shoot the messenger.

There's a firing squad on Bluesky, aiming at anyone stating the blinking obvious: that Starmer needs to go ASAP if Labour is to have any chance of recovery before 2029.

As an ex Labour member I am very much of the opinion that hate is the only thing the pro-Starmer wing knows or understands.

I choose hope instead, I choose @zackpolanski.bsky.social and the @greenparty.org.uk
I actually went and checked it really said this…

Obviously they were too cowardly to go on record - I mean, who'd want to admit publicly to being "pro-Starmer" - but yes, the person this unnamed Labour MP hates most in politics is @zackpolanski.bsky.social

Out of all the people to choose 🤔

Kat, Smash! (The far right.)
Drop something into this brave leader’s campaign. We need strong people fighting for us.
A brand new Super PAC — Elect Chicago Women — just dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars into this race. Why?

Because it’s actually a front for AIPAC dark money. And they’re doing everything they can to buy my race:

If you only read one article about the Gorton and Denton By-Election make it this one.

And to those accusing us of "splitting the vote" - a big fuck you!

"They don't have anywhere else to go."

Also: "Why are they going to the Greens?"
This bastion of moral virtue has opinions about the Green Party.

Just remember that as they continue to attack us.

This is who they are. Mask is off.

As an ex Labour member who has witnessed the deliberate destruction of democracy in the Labour Party, this simple act of democracy in action brings so much joy and hope to my newly-Green heart!
Local members vote this evening following a debate.

Announcement tomorrow.

Democracy in action!

President Trump,

I know you're not an intelligent man, so let me spell this out simply for you:

The NATO treaty requires other NATO countries to come to your aid when you are invaded.

NOT when you invade someone else.

This reminds me of the tragic case of Alan Kurdi in Europe in 2015. Every time you see an image like this you think "surely people will rise up and demand an end to this now?"

But 10 years later the anti-immigrant hatred has got worse, not better.

How do we live with ourselves as a species?

Trump said he'd changed his mind and wasn't going to invade Greenland because he was scared of Britain's independent nuclear deterrent?

When did that happen? I must have missed it.
The greens would have unilaterally got rid of our nuclear deterrent so don’t lecture us on “national security”

Has Ed Davey learnt a lesson from @zackpolanski.bsky.social and realised that *trying to make things better for ordinary people* is a vote winner? It sure beats his previous strategy of... [checks notes]... *falling off a paddle board*.
Keir Starmer failed to answer my question at PMQs, so today I’ve written to his minister to demand action.

She should strip South East Water of their licence immediately.

Thousands of people are still without water. The Government has no time to lose.

One of the many repugnant things I witnessed while a member of the Labour Party was how regularly non-Jewish right-wingers like John Mann would lecture my Jewish comrades and accuse them of anti-Semitism whenever they spoke out against Israel.

So if I rob a bank, I can just tell the authorities that I will stop robbing banks and then they won't punish me for having robbed a bank? Have I got that right?

2. The ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans was likely justified due to real risk of racist, violent hooliganism #r4today

Centralism
/sɛntrəlɪz(ə)m/

Definition: Right wing capitalism, but with a "sorry, we don't have any choice, our hands are tied" veneer.

Being able to foresee consequences sure is depressing.

The rational few: "if we don't do something about X then bad thing Y is going to happen."

The irrational masses: "shut up nutjob!"

Later: [bad thing Y happens]

The same thing over and over, whether it's inequality, climate change, fascism...
Post 9/11, how many people warned about the dangerous introduction of antiterrorism laws (in many nations, not just the USA) because of the abuse under those laws of non-white people by authoritarian states claiming “national security”.
