there's basically no way to run a platform that allows for references that look like death threats without either
a) allowing actual death threats to simply claim to be a reference you don't get or
b) creating a two-tiered system based on whether or not the mods think you're funny

idk if I can articulate this clearly but the expectation to share/display pronouns at all times feels so othering? especially since that burden is mostly placed on trans people? ESPECIALLY when it's for the benefit of cis people afraid of the minor discomfort of getting corrected

this is interesting. i strongly prefer for someone to assume my pronouns. i also think there is assumption that pronouns and gender are same thing when one is what you prefer to be called and one is what you actually are. in other words it is okay to want to be called the technically ‘wrong’ thing
hot take: I think we should go back to assuming peoples pronouns. if we get it wrong, we should be corrected, say "thank you for correcting me", and not get it wrong again.

getting randomly they/them'd by a group of youths i met at a movie premiere was how i learned i prefer they/them, and getting called "sir" when i wore a baggy t-shirt as a teen remains a fond memory
