Wanted to have a quick talk about my handle and artist name, rauðvik.
If you have a passing knowledge of Icelandic/Nordic languages, you‘ll see the root, "rauð-" in there, meaning "red."
"-vik" derived from the verb, "að víkja", one meaning of which is "to deviate from." /1

would like you to go fuck yourself with a live, sandy lobster.

Fuck you. Fuck AI.

Just saw an ad, the opening line for which was something to the effect of studying abroad doesn’t mean you have to learn a second language, and the ad was for an AI live translator.

This ex-translator whose work vanished as a result of the advent of Google Translate (and now this new horseshit)

The opsix’s mod matrix is the best of the R-Pi synths in terms of routing possibilities. I love it

Thinking of #experimentalmusic still, and this weird-ass #wavestate track qualifies as well I think.

Lots of noise in this one, but to me, it never ends up seeming like it’d be grating to a listener

Cancel your #Spotify today. Use those dollars to buy between 1 & 3 (or more!) albums on #BandcampFriday. Enjoy the actual, direct impact you had on someone's life. (Hell they might message you to say thanks!)

No amount of $$$ (or streams) spent on Spotify will ever change ANYTHING for the better!

You have just made my entire month. It means a lot to hear something like that

Ohhhhh man that’s tough. Probably the opsix though if I’m being honest

Two absolutely luscious #wavestate #drones for your weekend

To this day I have yet to build a drone better than "gefangene der zeit", track 2

The world is full of artists putting 100% of their effort into their craft and trying to be heard. Leaning on AI to shortcut parts of the process kicks you to the bottom of my interest list.

If you can't be bothered to put your creative mark on 100% of what you make, why should I care about it?

Frankly, if you're going to use AI for your cover art, then I'm gonna think you did the same for your music and think you didn't give a shit about that either.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot, musicians. Hire a real artist. Do it yourself, even. Anything but Gen AI.

When it comes to music, “If the cover art’s AI, I’m passin’ it by!™”

It went from the heat and humidity, to the heat in my house needing to run today.

It’s been a lot

*as I’ve been mastering* makes that a complete sentence in the first post up there…

Well this was absolutely a thread I needed to read today as I’ve mastering a #modwave track and questioning its worth the entire time.

This is helping me to readjust my thinking a bit

Lately I've embraced and tried to lean into certain aspects of my thought process. Sometimes that means working in the ambient space and giving in to a more primal flow! It requires a lot of set up work to give yourself the tools to make interesting music this way, I've found 🔨🗜️🧰

My awful frame of mind re. my art has hit a point where I almost completely blocked out the fact that I even released this a week ago.

I did though. I still think it’s cool.

Give it a listen, and you might think it’s cool, too.

Maybe even cool enough to buy

And you know how I know it’s working? I don’t even need to touch the vents or feel the air getting warmer. You know how I know…

Toasting dust and the ensuing headache
raudvik.bsky.social
It also has the full sample library from the wavestate in addition to all the wavetables so… yeah it’s super-versatile in terms of the sounds you can build

We went from highs in the mid-20°’s to… Jesus Christ my heat just turned on.

You can’t route the amp envelope through the shape lane in the sequencers section like you can on the wavestate and I feel like that was a big miss on Korg’s part.

These two synths are all but architecturally identical, so I don’t understand why the modwave didn’t get that function for ratchets
