Wanted to have a quick talk about my handle and artist name, rauðvik.
If you have a passing knowledge of Icelandic/Nordic languages, you‘ll see the root, "rauð-" in there, meaning "red."
"-vik" derived from the verb, "að víkja", one meaning of which is "to deviate from." /1

Just saw an ad, the opening line for which was something to the effect of studying abroad doesn’t mean you have to learn a second language, and the ad was for an AI live translator.

This ex-translator whose work vanished as a result of the advent of Google Translate (and now this new horseshit)

The world is full of artists putting 100% of their effort into their craft and trying to be heard. Leaning on AI to shortcut parts of the process kicks you to the bottom of my interest list.

If you can't be bothered to put your creative mark on 100% of what you make, why should I care about it?

Frankly, if you're going to use AI for your cover art, then I'm gonna think you did the same for your music and think you didn't give a shit about that either.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot, musicians. Hire a real artist. Do it yourself, even. Anything but Gen AI.

Lately I've embraced and tried to lean into certain aspects of my thought process. Sometimes that means working in the ambient space and giving in to a more primal flow! It requires a lot of set up work to give yourself the tools to make interesting music this way, I've found 🔨🗜️🧰

You can’t route the amp envelope through the shape lane in the sequencers section like you can on the wavestate and I feel like that was a big miss on Korg’s part.

These two synths are all but architecturally identical, so I don’t understand why the modwave didn’t get that function for ratchets
