This is a good response from the European Commission. TL;DR: we're not dignifying every brainfart with a response unless there's some solid detail, but broadly, this is fucking insane.

It probably shouldn't be weird to realise how many past decisions were influenced by one of me being a surfeit of skunks.

Entered for Ride the North again. Doing the long version, obviously. With a start at Glamis castle, it should be spectacular. Entries for first timers open on the 28th. www.ride-the-north.co.uk

Living in NE Scotland, there are times when I wish we had weather that hung around a bit. You know, made it worthwhile putting the spiked tyres on. If I put them on today, they'd have to come off tomorrow.

Do you ever look a some - many - European cities and think we've been conditioned in the U.K to expect that incredibly grey, car-dominated, and polluted cities and towns are as good as it gets? Because I do.

Hard to believe there are people fighting to keep things the same.

There should be an animé called, "That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Shark-Tailed Grouse!" I'd watch it.

To be clear, for my own sanity, I will block anyone who says that the genocide in Gaza is why the Dems lost, and it was right and just for people not to have voted/to have voted for the wotzit. Regardless of their stance, this is worse. What the US has now is worse.

Spotted on Market Day in a Small City in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A serious looking man (40s?) is walking with friends. He suddenly picks up a traffic cone and does the moosey call of his people through the end. Everyone nearby laughing. He then returns cone and walks on. His work here is done. (1)

Thinking about doing a UK cycling (like the old UrbancyclingUK mailing list) starter pack for people and groups who are involved in promoting or just enjoy getting out and about on bikes in the UK. No idea what's involved, but if you'd be interested in being on it, hit me up?

Imagine if we had a few days a year when drivers were just told to stay the fuck at home because the resurfacing bots were working. And everyone else could go play. Sigh.

I just wrote "vibratory fish" instead of "migratory fish" in a work document and possibly this means I need a nap.

Extraordinary quote in the FT profile of Alice Weidel - the AFD candidate for German Chancellor.

Asked to explain how her being married to a woman fitted with the party's "anti-woke" philosophy an official said:

"She is just gay by biology but not by political conviction."

I got myself an actual Oodie in the sale (as opposed to the "large, baggie jumper things" I've had before), and it's so warm I can only wear it for about 15 minutes at a time. Then I have to take it off until I've cooled down. Rinse and repeat. It's like a duvet in hoodie form.
