Single payer healthcare seems like a reasonable, sustainable, freedom enhancing (not tethered to your employer) solution to a universal need for a functioning, growing society that has basic belief in a better future for humanity. It'd prolly help, anway.
Cops, man.

The world suffers and resources drained for ego service to the insecure or childish.
I noticed this neat little illustration of pick-up truck bloat on my dog walk this morning. These are both Ford Rangers.

The world would have been better off if Trump had been a drinker. Either he would have ended in a stupor years ago or gotten sober. A tragedy.

BTW, if Elon ever gets sober I still will never forgive him for the wreckage he's left in his path. Just a bad person.

I love how everyone's favorite Star Trek tech, the transporter, was just a practical story telling solution because people shuttling everywhere would take too long for TV.
When I was a kid I loved Star Trek, probably not for the usual reasons. Fascinated by the ability to transport, and the wand thing that diagnosed and cured illness and injury.

Accurate.
Trump's comment about Rob Reiner, a beloved American, really demonstrates the rottenness of his character.

Ok, I like that. That's a funny one and seems in good spirit.

He's a profoundly self-centered asshole.

He's not an "imperfect vessel"; he's a giant sack of shit.
Trump doubles down on his Rob Reiner attack: "I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person... He became like a deranged person, Trump Derangement Syndrome. So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape or form. I thought he was very bad for our country."

Be aware. Of course they sell everything.

I remember like 20 years ago people were warning that expansive user agreements as a matter of course, justified as a necessity to provide quality products (boy that didn't work out), was risky verging on reckless.

They'll sell your soul if they could.

I strongly disagree. When I read the initial post I thought, "but I like dicking around, it's one of life's pleasures."
one thing i am learning is that people do treat the phrase “dicking around” as an insult and a pejorative. news to me
yeah man i can't imagine why someone would get upset when you tell them all their efforts are "just dicking around"

i mean your point was correct, but come on now

Hey, Jack, what was Charlie's job? Harassing students and professors, right?

And, guess what, Trump is celebrating Reiner's death.

So, yeah. Fuck you.

For the record: Reiner's job was movie making, and he also had opinions, that you disagree with ...mostly because you an intellectual hack and fuc

One thing I really hate about internet journalism is this "say it three times" nonsense.

Instead of motivating me to click through and read the article (and get them those sweet sweet ad dollars) it makes me disinclined to click through, in favor of searching out another source or just moving on.

This post should have never even occurred to anyone let along typed out with his stubby little fingers and sent into the world.

Republicans, this is what you wanted and it's what you got.
December 15, 2025 at 10:01 PM
It amazes me how cheap it is to get this kind of influence. Unless, of course, Republican politicians basically agree.

Yes, we need to get money out of politics AND we need to do something about the rotten environment created by people like Koch brothers and their ideological acolytes.
One reason why Republicans won't extend expiring ACA subsidies?

Koch-backed lobby groups have spent over $1.1M pressuring GOP lawmakers to let 20M Americans' health insurance costs go up.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

Speaking of Rob Reiner, does anyone remember "The Super" (1972)?

Tup, that's Clemenza from "The Godfather" also (1972).

We need to finish FDR's work.

Republicans spent years attacking Hunter Biden’s foreign ties. Meanwhile, Jared Kushner raised billions from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar. And now he sits at the center of U.S. media consolidation and back-channel diplomacy. The double standard is glaring.

That's a fascinating interpretation because it is rooted in the assumptions one might make about what the exercise is about if one doesn't see an Apple at all.
its funny being like a 4.5 on this scale. on the one hand, when I close my eyes there is no apple just the whispering darkness. and on the other there are entire religions based on making the fucking apple go away for once

That statement goes straight to first principles.

What Sotomayor is flagging isn’t procedural nitpicking; it’s structural collapse.

If one person can remove officers at will, independent institutions become ornamental, checks become optional, and “the executive” becomes personal rule.👇
