I was with some publishing folks recently. They said almost every pitch now is basically, “this book is just like those other books but written, bravely, BY A MAN.”

The one who could retire, did. The rest of us just got drunk

Do you have a newsletter? You can have a newsletter signup and then it’s easy to use a randomizer to choose an email address. If you use IG there are random comment pickers, so you can comment and follow to enter and then pick one. You can probably do something similar on Bluesky too. Have fun!

People do this all the time. They think they’re helping but sometimes their vocabulary isn’t up to snuff and they just didn’t know the word I used 👀 or it’s a typo that needs to be directed to the editing team (not me) or I already know and can’t do a thing about it bc the book’s already published.

I’ve been reading for work (awards, blurbs) but haven’t read a book just for me in a while. Enter THE RAVEN SCHOLAR. I stayed up too late reading last night & immediately started reading as soon as I woke up. Wonderful! About halfway, so no spoilers pls. www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/anton...

Thank you but it wasn’t my birthday. Not sure how this birthday rumor started, but I’m old enough as it is! 😂 Appreciate the kind wishes.

Started listening to Black Sun by @rebeccaroanhorse.bsky.social , and it’s already captivating halfway through the second chapter!! I’m a big epic fantasy nerd, and I connect with characters as much as plot, so I think I am really going to enjoy this!

Squeee!!!

This week has been a lot of online. I’ve got 1) a novel to write by end of year, 2) a novel in edits, 3) a novella to write by Thanksgiving 4) a short story collection 1PP due next week. Can’t afford to brainrot so I’m taking a wee break. Stay safe & protect your mental health. 🙏 ✌️
